Yes--I had a Stafford loan in mine. Somehow, that equated to them giving me an April 2 deadline to accept or decline the loan.

Wow. Struck out. Awesome. At least it makes the decision to wait another year that much easier...

So an email saying I am not getting an institution scholarship means no deans and no named scholarship if i applied to that too, right? As in, withdraw, take other offers and run?

This can't be right. You accept (or decline) loans mid-summer.

Not sure if someone's mentioned this already, but I never got an email and decided to log into the financial aid section of the admitted students site to see what was going on and I could access my PDF award through there. So for those of you who haven't received anything via email yet, I'd try that!

I'm going to call to clarify on Monday-hopefully you're right because that would be really weird.

Can anybody disprove this hypothesis with their own case?

Maybe those of us who already had NeedAccess, etc. in but didn't get the financial aid email are still in the running for named scholarships?

I'm still in the "final stages of review" (or whatever the phrasing is). Was accepted months ago and submitted NeedAccess weeks ago, but no email. I applied for the Root but haven't heard anything yet. Maybe once the named-scholarship-rejects pile gets passed back into the general pool, we'll get these emails?

Hmm, I just tried that. No luck. But I think it's mostly because I submitted my stuff late and I went under "review" and "final review" just yesterday.

Typically, how long does it take to go from in the final stages of review to getting an offer?

My guess is that if you were in final review before 9 March, you've probably received your info already. (Anybody can disprove this?)

Just checked mine and nothing on the FAAPS site either. I went Submitted 2 Mar, Under Review 4 Mar, then Final Stage 9 Mar.

My guess is that we'll start receiving some more emails Monday.

Sure, I went under review and final review both on March 4th, and I have not received anything.

I applied for a named scholarship too, but all I've heard are crickets.

Are you guys saying you were invited for RTK interviews? Or that you applied, and you think they might be holding your standard finaid information because they're still reviewing you for the named?

Same here re: everything. As I mentioned before on this thread, I was told that the RTK process is log-jammed this year because of the volume of applicants, and most people invited for interviews are going to hear between the 14th and 21st (this is via email from the woman who said she's responsible for calling those selected for interviews). While I don't think the lack of a financial aid email means we're guaranteed that opportunity, I think it's confirmation that they are still very much in the process of winnowing down the RTK finalists.

i'm deviating from the financial aid talk for a sec:

for those who attended the first ASW, did you attend both days? if so, do you think it is truly necessary or beneficial to go to the second day? i think i can only attend the first, but if you guys think it is important to go both days, i'll do what i can... let me know, please!

also, did anyone bring anyone with them? i want my older brother to accompany me and am wondering if that'd be odd...

Final review 2/23, nothing here...also applied for a named scholarship and no news there so it may be a separate notification pile.

I actually found second day program to be a lot more useful and interesting than the first. So if you can choose only one, I would do the second.

I agree. You have a lot more options the second day to attend different activities (classes, panels, etc.) that are more interesting to you.

I don't think that only going the first day would be awful, but I do think the second day is more useful. I think the whole idea behind ASWs are to be able to get a feel for the people and the campus. Only attending the first day won't completely hurt you in that sense.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask me.

I'll third this here. A lot of the first-day events were pretty vanilla compared to what they had running the second day, although you should get a pretty good idea from the first day as well. (Don't listen to people telling you that they can guarantee you biglaw, though.)

As for bringing somebody else - there were plenty of non-admits at the more social events, and there were a few people who did bring along parents. It's not common, and I think there are events (like the professor lunch) where they'll not really be welcome, but you should be able to bring a person if you want for most of the things.

I'm another RTK applicant who hasn't heard anything about fin aid. Hopefully we all will next week.

Aaaand, another one here.

Maybe they aren't giving finaid awards to people if they aren't sure if they are RTK finalists or not?

Edit: Aaaaand, already answered. Thanks, adhuth.
