Wow, with your stats you should have gotten in with money. When did you apply? The only possible reason for ding I could imagine is a late application + sub 3.0 gpacondor87 wrote:Denied via email today.

Re: Southwestern 2011
I applied in late December and received my status checker email on January 6. I did have to submit two extra statements explaining being disciplined in college for plagiarism (used my roommates homework assignment as my own as a last minute submission) and getting arrested for a drunk in public on my 21st birthday. That is the only thing I can think of that would have caused the ding. Oh well.adonai wrote:Wow, with your stats you should have gotten in with money. When did you apply? Still waiting for this, my cousin is on the alumni board and knows the dean, and the commissioner I intern for is married to a commissioner who went to SW law and has connections, I have a 150 and 3.2 with 5 years work experience and clean record i hope I get in.

More women pass the bar their first try. Find SW, then compare it with the other 3rd and 4th tier California schools. It will surprise some of you.

To add to this discussion, I think being cognizant of the low passage rate will be beneficial. We will likely be more on top of it than past classes who probably just assumed they would be adequately prepared. And, SW is making changes. At the ASD they seemed all over this issue. I'm confident they will turn it around.

LSN shows an acceptance for someone who has 147/2.78. Congratulations to him, but seriously?

Even with URM it would still be a long shot for both programs...zla2014 wrote:User verified? Also maybe a URM but he didn't indicate it on his acct? I'm hoping.adonai wrote:And it was for FT too. Thanks! Yea, you're right, those numbers are pretty pitiful. Maybe they're lying. lol. They do seem to be YPing alot though with all these low 160 rejects.adonai wrote:Even with URM it would still be a long shot for both programs...zla2014 wrote:User verified? What are you guys going to do if they don't offer you any scholarship money? I got my fin aid letter, and it kind of gave me an anxiety attack.
And zla, congrats on your acceptance!

Thanks! And SW gives merit based schollys too. You interview for it. Call the school to ask more about it. I've heard they give pretty hefty schollys based on those interviews.RAB wrote:What are you guys going to do if they don't offer you any scholarship money? I know they interview for them, but I feel like hardly anyone has been asked as of yet. Did you receive an email asking you to interview for one?

No, but I just got admitted today. I'll probably give them a call next week to ask about them.RAB wrote:I know they interview for them, but I feel like hardly anyone has been asked as of yet. Did you receive an email asking you to interview for one?

I inquired about the wait list decision with the admissions office and basically you have show a strong interest in SW and L.A., on top of the numbers. I guess this is more important than I thought.

How do you have to show "Strong Interest"?

Don't believe that crap. U think the majority of these 160+ people expressed a string interest in 3rd tier southwestern? Yeah right. Southwestern is fucking up big this year and they are just trying to make excuses

They indicated that they put stronger emphasis on soft factors and interest in the school rather than GPA/LSAT. I found that hard to believe.debili123 wrote:How do you have to show "Strong Interest"?sanjola wrote:I inquired about the wait list decision with the admissions office and basically you have show a strong interest in SW and L.A., on top of the numbers. Considering I had average soft factors and expressed no interest in the school, I too find it hard to believe. Didn't do the optional essay either.sanjola wrote:They indicated that they put stronger emphasis on soft factors and interest in the school rather than GPA/LSAT. We had applied, called them a bunch of time, waisted our precious time and nerves on forums, threads, finding out this and that, I say that it is a strong interest, and especially when you see that someone did not worked hard in school and for lsat, and they get in and you are hanging from a thin string, not knowing whats gone happen, and still are interests in school, thats again a strong interest.

Hate to sound like a broken record but I was accepted into Scale a month ago and still have no scholarship information. Has anyone in Scale gotten any?
I got some money into much better schools and am curious is Southwestern is just known not to sweeten the pot or something.
