Bumping the money up $500 is not going to be enough, SCU.
The mailman likely delivered my declination to them this morning.

I was wondering if anyone who was emailed about being a semi-finalist for the dean's fellowship received any follow up information or the lack of information implies I'm already out of the running

I really want to hear back from SCU. How much longer could we wait?
I have heard from a friend that they send out admits to lower numbers in late March.

Yeah, it would be nice to get in soon. I don't know if I could afford the ridiculous tuition without some scholly package from SCU.

I look at this in two ways. Debt and you can get a job vs debt and cant get a job..
Hopefully SCU is the former.(More so than our other options)

I have decided that if I do not end up top 25% after 1L year, I am just going to drop out and either join the marines or become a fire-fighter. This should hopefully motivate me to destroy 1L year.

I think you should pursue all three options at the same time.risktaker wrote:I have decided that if I do not end up top 25% after 1L year, I am just going to drop out and either join the marines or become a fire-fighter. This should hopefully motivate me to destroy 1L year.

Back in the day being a fire fighter would have been the better option. Retire and make 80k-90k a year. 90% of your salary.
But then came entitlement reform dun dun dun.

yeah, also wish we lived in the days when a law degree (regardless of school) was enough to find gainful employment

If they keep increasing by $500 every week until the fall, then things would get interestingwokeemilo wrote:looks like everyone got an additional $500.00. i did, and didn't appeal for any.florentine wrote:Appealed for more scholly money and got an extra $500... Pretty insulting.

I got the letter increasing my award by $500, too, but my amount was originally $15,500 and they "increased it by $500 to $15,500."
WTF?

Nor did I. And my letter said nothing of the increase, as it simply offered another number. $19.5K wasnt enough tho. I sincerely hope they redistribute that money to someone here!wokeemilo wrote:looks like everyone got an additional $500.00. i did, and didn't appeal for any.florentine wrote:Appealed for more scholly money and got an extra $500... Damn, guess this cycle is never going to end. I might have to ask for some deposit deadline extensions if I don't hear from SCU by 1st week of April. Any of you have an idea as to whether schools let you get an extension for deposit deadlines? How would you go about asking them?

Re: Santa Clara University 2014
I'm asking for one from Baylor -- they only gave me 10 days! I would just email the dean of admissions, or director of admissions, or whoever signed your acceptance letter, and ask them politely for more time to consider, as this is a major decision for you to make, etc.risktaker wrote:Damn, guess this cycle is never going to end. Anyone else get a scholarship increase by mail? It didn't go up by much but they gave me an extra $1500 per year.
Edit: I should learn to read.

Just got shot down for more $$. Didn't even get the whole, "you can appeal with this form" runaround.
Sigh.
