At this point, the only way that I don't wind up at STCL is if WUSTL or SMU admit me with a big pile of money and the wife doesn't mind a 3 year long distance marriage. So that means I'll be at STCL come August.

Ive actually been considerin Belmont just cuz i know peeps that went there for undergrad and its a pretty beast undergrad. Plus it be kinda cool to be part of the first year at a law school ever. but after all the quirkiness wore off and i realized it has no alumni base because its a brand new school, my chances of gettin a job are doggy doo doo that all goes to crap real fast. Whats gonna kill me is in like 30 years when its like in the top 100 and im thinkin what the deuce

As for first question, I really doubt Tulsa places at all outside Oklahoma, especially in Texas. I can't speak to STCL in DFW either, but if I were going either/or for DFW, I would pick it over Tulsa in a heartbeat just because it's a Texas school.txadv11 wrote:
Great, thanks.
Who'd have a better placement in DFW, STCL or Tulsa? I'm also going on a visit at the end of the month, anything specific I should ask or see?
Re: visiting Tulsa: It depends on what you like, obvs. Definite things to do would be to go downtown and check out the architecture, go to the Pedestrian Bridge at the river (b/t 21st and 31st on Riverside), check out Utica Square, and go see the Praying Hands/bizarre alien mothership architecture at ORU across town (81st & Lewis). Oh, and the Center of the Universe off 1st St. at the Williams Center. All of that will give you a general feel for the part of town you'll be in, and it's all pretty and nice to be around (minus ORU, hahaha).
Around TU itself is mostly neighborhood. Don't believe people who tell you it's dangerous; they are newbs. I lived there for years without even locking my doors. If you need stuff to do that isn't sightseeing, give me an idea of what you like to do and I'll tailor recs to that.

Well, hopefully in 30 years, we will all have established ourselves and ranking won't be worth much compared to our expertise.Tonio wrote:Ive actually been considerin Belmont just cuz i know peeps that went there for undergrad and its a pretty beast undergrad. Good stuff, thanks. I'm gonna print what you said and see what I can visit during my short trip there. I don't have a specific "thing" I like to do that isn't available everywhere, movies, gaming, watch tv, etc lol, but general atmosphere is important. Is there any red-flag to lookout for there (e.g. tuition spikes of > 10% or horribly sinking reputation) ? I hate to derail STCL's thread, but I can't find a Tulsa one (bad sign?).upfish wrote:As for first question, I really doubt Tulsa places at all outside Oklahoma, especially in Texas. Don't know anything about their tuition except that it's HIGH for their rank. It's well-regarded in Tulsa similar to how STCL is regarded in Houston, but Tulsa is MUCH smaller (600k people, I think?) and leans pretty conservative. Fox News is on in like, dive pizza places, for example, which has always struck me as odd. The university is in the liberal part of town though.txadv11 wrote:

Are you asking your chances to get off of the wait list or do you actually not know what waitlisted means? I am assuming you wanna know your chances, and my understanding with waitlists is they are never very good. I wouldn't bank on any school if your wait listed. Some schools actually have a number program where you are like 112 or wutever on the list, no idea how STCL does it.roarthur wrote:I finally got an email that I was wait listed. Can anyone tell me what that means?

I guess making pizza and conservatism are mutually exclusive.upfish wrote:Don't know anything about their tuition except that it's HIGH for their rank. That's what I meant. Should have worded the question better.
In the past years on LSN it seems like most who were waitlisted were later accepted rather than rejected. I know it is only a sample of applicants but it seems like most people got in.

Note that no one reported waitlisted, then rejected. Many people end up getting in and choosing a school and either forget, or just don't care to update their cycles.
If you want to feel better about your chances, go look up what happened today with William and Mary on lawschoolnumbers.com I'd say they waitlisted quite a few competitive people

If someone changes their status from waitlisted to rejected or accepted, does it even show them as having been waitlisted in the first place?

I don't know if any or all of you know this, I haven't kept up with the crazy pace our section of the forum has been at... But, I went to stcl today and found out a little pearl of information: Monday afternoon admissions will be sending out emails with merit based scholarship info. And, the woman in the admissions office said this money is reserved to those in the top 75%. I didn't get clarification on whether that was the top 75% of admitted or what. Anyway I had a great time at the school today, pretty sure I will be going there depending on what kind of $ is thrown my way. Anxious about Monday!! Sorry If this info made those of you freaking out rise to a whole new level!! :/

I'm pretty sure she meant 75th percentile, like top 25%. sorry if I wasn't clear. There's probably no way stcl would give out money to 3/4 of admits, considering their conservative history in money disbursement.Mce252 wrote:jacketman03 wrote:So 3/4 of the admits are getting scholarship monies?emilyvvv wrote:I don't know if any or all of you know this, I haven't kept up with the crazy pace our section of the forum has been at...
