It really depends on the faculty members reading your file. Some faculty are sticklers for the LSAT or your undergrad GPA. Some are more into your story. Some care only about what your recommenders say, because they feel that every other part of your application has been doctored. Some read every LSAT writing sample, and swear by it. It really depends on the combo of faculty reviewing your application which factors matter most.

All I can say is I have difficulty reading mine. Maybe I can submit an addendum and a transcript of what I wrote?

I'm fairly confident that my LSAT writing sample will put me over the top at Yale. I basically proved that country 1 was superior .

Haha, i'm just kidding. I was pretty drained after the LSAT, but I still tried to take the writing sample seriously.

The WANGS!!! My essay contains such insightful statements as "will long remember memories from camp." I pretty much say the same thing over and over. What can I say, that last logic games section wiped me out. At least I didn't notice any misspelled words. Sorry, r6.

Also, I read the sample from the first time I took the LSAT. I used the word "inconvenience" like fifty times in both essays, even though the two topics were wildly different and I took the tests two years apart. Not sure what that says about me, other than that I need to get a thesaurus.

You were really annoyed at the inconvenience of being asked to do a totally pointless task at the end of a grueling 3 hour test.

Your alt reminds me. My LSAT essay included a long and drawn out paragraph comparing Julia Child to Chef Boyardee. The question was something about art and originality. I also spent awhile hating on Thomas Kinkade and later seasons of the Simpsons.

Which is to say I suspect that the writing sample, if used at all, is primarily to check for complete sentences and basic command of English.

If it makes you feel better, I misspelled several parts of my CV. I also used a personal statement lauding YLS in an application to a rival school and was still accepted there.

I wonder how many people do this. I also did this at one school last year (accepted this year) and one this year (still waiting). But like you, I referred to a better school, so maybe it helps more than hurts lol

I am still tinkering with my 250. Sadly, I cannot get it just the way I want. Not much more time to work, though.

I think this is how many people feel about their 250s. I certainly did. At a certain point, I just had to say, "ok, you've been trying to improve this for weeks, if not months... time to suck it up, save and send it off." (after proof-reading 10 more times, of course!)

Your essay sounds great! Anyone who uses Chef Boyardee in a LSAT essay deserves to go to Yale...and Yale obviously agreed.
