Re: IOWA 2011
Does anyone have a solid timeline for the acceptance packets to come in? I am hoping I don't get something post marked feb 2 in april. I think the wait for scholarship info is worse than the wait to get in.

Re: IOWA 2011
ok so I just briefly skimmed through the entire thread (and forgive me if I missed it) but does anyone know when the ASW is? I want to prepare ahead so I can *hopefully* get off of work
Update: Nevermind; found the information on the website. For those that are curious, there is optional dinner reception on 3/24 and ASW is on 3/25.

Nada yet, I'm really hoping LSAT this Saturday bumps me up a few LSAT points, changes the game for me....typ3 wrote:I'd be interested to hear if you got anything since we're basically stat twins.JenDarby wrote:full ride offer in the mail? Without knowing your stats that's hard to answer. If you're an auto admit candidate and are waiting that long then yes I would be worried. If you're at or below both medians than I wouldn't read into it. You probably already know that a WL is coming this late in the cycle unless you're an IA resident.bbermud wrote:i submitted my application the 7th of january and still havent heard ne thing yet. should i start to worry??

So the options are basically, "Worry because you might be wait listed or denied" or "Don't worry because you're probably wait listed or denied."typ3 wrote:Without knowing your stats that's hard to answer. Those are some depressing choices!

not so because several days ago, a 157/ 3.5 was admitted out of the blue. certainly a reach without prior waitlist status. judging from other schools, which still havent responded to numerous applicants, the cycle is far from over. worrying requires too much energy. hope this helps. In addition, I just checked the status checker and officially went into review yesterday. Its hard to imagine that they have already made up their minds and have a solid and full class yet. Of course I could be wrong. Its not over till its over.

Yes.
Not to sound like an ungrateful bitch but I wish they'd stop sending me emails and more scholarship information.
Just sayin.

Didn't get that email. I got an email about Iowa's faculty. My numbers are a little low for me to be expecting a scholarship, but if I did get one, it would definitely sway me towards Iowa!chrisbru wrote:

Univ. Iowa Index Calculation:
(LSAT*.876) + (GPA*9.621) -.407 = Index
Maximum 195.77
GPA % 19.62
I'm guessing everyone Chica and above will receive or has received a full tuition merit scholarship.
I'll predict that elaman and chrissyc will both pick up full tuition scholarships given that they're the highest URM candidates on LSN for the cycle. I stopped including candidates after UNC as the rest had LSAT's of 166 and lower and thus their index numbers dropped below what has historically been the minimum in years past for full tuition scholarships. I included Jayman6 in the calculations since he asked earlier about his chances of financial aid.
However, the applicant class at Iowa seems to be very strong this year so I would suggest candidates take these predictions with a grain of salt, but it is a clear reversal of what occurred during last year's cycle where lots of scholarships were thrown out even to lower indexed applicants. This year there is a glut of qualified applicants well over the 75th percentile.

I've been lurking here for a while, and decided to post since the time is coming close... first "In-Review" on 1/18, second "In-Review" on 2/7.
LSAT: 161, GPA 3.06
* Iowa Resident
* Own my own business
* Work part time
* Student government and numerous other activities
Thoughts? (Dare I ask Chances? XD) Definitely not expecting money, haha.

Thanks, that's what's kept me hopeful, XD. I should have taken an LSAT class or something - I took only two practice tests which were much higher. Probably should expect a decision in less than two more weeks?typ3 wrote: Likely in because you're an Iowa resident. No chance of $

Has anyone had to fill out the residency form? Is it something they make all iowa residents do or are they actually confused?

Do any of you guys know how Iowa places with JAG programs? I am hopoing my scholarship info comes out soon. I want to attend the asd, but if I don't get any scholly money then it will be tough to justify visiting Iowa from the empire state and missing work.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
