'Twas two days before Christmas, when all through my home
Not a ringer was ringing, no noise from my phone;
The application was proofread and submitted with care,
In hopes that an acceptance soon would be there;
Addendums attached and LORs solicited,
In hopes that a scholarship would thus be elicited;
Wife in Christmas sweater, my son taking a nap,
I log on to Chicago to check on my app.:
12/15—nothing’s changed—is there something the matter?
Thinks I: Keep confidence. Don’t let your hopes shatter.
Think back to your visit in 2007,
When you saw that attending would be just like heaven.
With luck, admissions might alight on this post,
And lift to my law application a toast,
Exclaiming, “How could we pass this one by?!”
“Admit him!” would become their rallying cry.
Though it’s true a rejection would leave me quite sad,
I don’t think my numbers themselves are half-bad.
Oh well, what’s to do, alea iacta est
Merry Christmas to all and I wish you the best

If they're open, does that mean there could be acceptances? I guess the answer is probably yes, but so many law schools seem like they will be closed all the way through the new year, so maybe UChi is on, like, a limited open schedule.

Glad you liked it. I was going to give the full-length poem the treatment (the reindeer as some of the t-14), but my in-laws arrived so I had to cut it short.
I applied ED with a 3.7, Oct. 171, and December retake that I canceled due to an ear infection. If they plan on dinging me, I hope that they'll first let me drive up for an interview. Generic references to rank and reputation aside, I am convinced that Chicago is the place for me...for myriad reasons. One of my recommenders did some post-graduate, English Lit. work at Chicago; and I have a professional acquaintance with ties to the school. Both of these people think that Chicago is an excellent match for my personality--I just hope the admissions office feels the same way.

Well if the stats on TLS are correct you are median/above median, and if you expressed such an interest in your app than I'd wager you'll get in. If you do get deffered send in that poem.

Haven't checked Chicago in some time, apparently I went 11/29 -----> 12/20. Is it three updates and then admit- or is it less predictable than that? I had resigned myself not to hear until February!

If I were an adcomm, I would definitely hold applications to call and/or send ecards on Christmas. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Love, Chicago. I would never look back.
