be positive, it's not over yet (not to sound like an annoying cheerleader type!). you seem like a strong candidate for CLS, I hope I see you there.Core wrote:Decision was mailed today, according to the CLS office. Am I to assume this is a rejection/WL? Held earlier... Ugh...

I e-mailed them an update. They responded that they would add it to my file.PoorOrpheus wrote:You called/e-mailed them?Core wrote:Decision was mailed today, according to the CLS office. Am I to assume this is a rejection/WL? Held earlier... Ugh...
I e-mailed them a few hours later asking if I was still pending or if a decision had been reached. They told me a decision was mailed today, April 20. They would not tell me what the decision was.

Re: Columbia 2010
I guess from all the phone calls made today and the decisions in the mail, it's kind of safe to assume that it's over for the 4/21 crowd? Bummer. I guess I know to expect something unpleasant in the mail tomorrow.

I think it's definitely over for us 4/21ers...They don't seem to be taking many off the hold list. Alas.

+1. I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Besides one or two that were accepted sporadically over the last few weeks, nobody on hold has been accepted yet. That doesn't make sense. And note the pattern of the ED deferrals: snail mail WLs/rejects sent on April 16, e-mail acceptance yesterday (4/19). CLS may be saving the e-mail acceptances for tomorrow or later in the week.Bodega wrote:They have to accept SOME holds.

Am I the only person who is doing this gmail search like 15 times a day?

Then I do

DISCLAIMER: Full-blown trolling:
Dear Columbia,
You are a pretentious B**ch if I've every seen one. You send meaningless invites (fee waivers) to dudes you wouldn't considering banging in your sleep. You love the attention, phone calls, and love letters you receive daily. You pull us along on a string just because you can...because we're pathetic enough to dream of spending our nights with you. Although your location and connections will keep you looking pretty for many years...I will never consider dating you or allowing any of my children to do so either. You will never receive a penny of my future fortune, and I will be a dedicated member of your local competitor's family.
Summary: Fu*K you Columbia...

so far, it hasn't worked very well for me this cycle. The theme of April is Heart Bloated With Hope Crushed By Prestigious Institution.

But you're right. Until I get my envelope, I can't help but keep believin'. Also, I was part of the group that got really definitive language in their letter. Is it that the email was then more ambiguous? Like in the email it says "we'll try" but in the letter it said, "we'll let you know" ? Can you feel my heart re-bloating?

That was a quick one. I think that the letter is buried somewhere in these pages, but it was nice getting to see it again. Thanks.

This thread is beginning to make me laugh.
But seriously, Columbia, it's been more than 3 months with no word. Let's wrap it up.

Actually, in the reserve letter it states this:Core wrote:Shit.pnic101 wrote:Emailed Columbia today, they said a decision letter was sent April 19. I was a regular decision hold. Looks like the reserves/rejects are still coming.
I e-mailed them last night with an update to my app - some honors and an award, including Phi Beta Kappa (does anyone know if this actually matters?). They responded this morning and said they would add this information to my file. I hope they would've mentioned a decision had been sent if in fact a decision had been sent...
"Particular attention is focused on recent developments--such as final term grades, thesis evaluations, election to Phi Beta Kappa, departmental honors, or other awards bestowed upon graduation for scholarship, leadership or service."
GL to you!
