Re: Columbia 2011!
The index on LSP rounds at a later point, so I think a lot of people go off of that. I'm not buying the index thing right now anyway someone with a lower index than me has been accepted, someone else has been held, and someone with a higher index than all of us also got held. So it's definitely failing as an indicator for URMs anyway. Obviously it's more than just numbers, but it's tough to not have any guesses at all.ahduth wrote:So the index number on the LSDAS report only goes to one digit - we're assuming they run the index themselves?

Re: Columbia 2011!
So if there's 22 people on the TLS hold spreadsheet, does anyone have any idea what that means about how many people were actually held?
That is, does our sample (TLS self-reporters) tell us anything about the overall population of applicants?
(I suspect not, but maybe someone here has a better idea.)

I'd have a hard time believing that they don't, at least to one more decimal place. A 4.4 can be a lot of different things. And I don't think it really holds for URMs and other cases that are a little harder to predict.ahduth wrote:So the index number on the LSDAS report only goes to one digit - we're assuming they run the index themselves?

I am clearly convinced no. (that's my better idea).Peameal wrote:So if there's 22 people on the TLS hold spreadsheet, does anyone have any idea what that means about how many people were actually held?

Just got held by email.
Edit: What does it mean, exactly? Do I need to whip up a LOCI if I want a shot at getting in?

Oh I hope you heal quickly. I've been in pain for a week because one of my wisdom teeth broke through the gum and I'd rather spend my money on ASW travel expenses than getting them pulled.glitched wrote:big news today:Fresh wrote:Uhh I'm lazy can someone update me no what the hell is going on?

Chiming in here. Held about an hour ago. Submitted on 9/14/10. 169/3.83= 4.237 index. I honestly expected rejection after reading the bit about going green with certain decisions, so I'm cool with it.
I'd also be curious to know how many holds they send out in general.
