Is acceptance rate based on (acceptances)/(total applicants) or (acceptances)/(rejections+acceptances)? If the second, this sounds like a shady move to decrease their acceptance rate.crackberry wrote:Columbia rejected me today (via snail mail) after confirming my withdrawal (via email) six days ago. I'm interested in international law, so both schools have fabulous programs, but I'd go to Columbia if admitted despite my scholarship at AU. However, my numbers are crap. I'm a 165/4.0 with a very artsy resume. I looked at the thread for last year, and I'm feeling pretty hopeless about getting in at Columbia. Any thoughts? Any ideas on what would help my chances or is it just up to the admissions gods at this point?
But seriously, you probably have a shot with that GPA.
hahaha sweet picture, but I really doubt that I have a chance... Columbia tends to be an LSAT whore, and NYU who likes high GPA's cut me immediately... Maybe Columbia needs more people from my state. lol That'd be nice.
Does anyone know the percentage of acceptance from Columbia's reserve pool over the years?

Seriously. I wish they'd just get it over with already.

Based on my experience with CLS this cycle, confusion is the most likely culprit. I don't think they have it together enough to be shady. UVA, on the other hand....

They both have been unbelievably slow from everything I have heard. Are you at least on hold at CLS? Or have some people actually been left hanging this long with no correspondence at all?lta wrote:STILL waiting on NYU and Columbia. No hope left

I didn't hear anything at all from NYU or Cornell until yesterday. I still haven't heard anything back from Chicago either. So yeah, people are having to wait a ridiculously long time to hear back.

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I'm waiting on NYU, Cornell and Chicago. Did you hear from NYU or Cornell yesterday? When did you apply/ go complete for them that you've finally gotten a response?bIu3b1rd wrote:LieutKaffee wrote:They both have been unbelievably slow from everything I have heard. I applied a bit late in the game, I admit. I was complete at Chicago 1/11, at NYU 1/13, and at Cornell 1/25. NYU and Cornell both rejected me...Jrugg88 wrote:Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I'm waiting on NYU, Cornell and Chicago. Did you hear from NYU or Cornell yesterday? oh ok.. didn't get the request either, probably because I sent a LOCI right after I visited explaining how the visit had enlightened meLaurenGayle wrote:I haven't heard a word...and didn't get the LOCI request a few weeks ago either...SanBun wrote:any movement for the ED deferred people? Oh well, just patiently waiting for my reserve/ rejection letter.
Lauren, do you think we still stand a chance at this point? Or should we give up hope completely?

Well, my guess is that they didn't request LOCI's from ED people because, technically, they know they are our top choice.SanBun wrote:oh ok.. didn't get the request either, probably because I sent a LOCI right after I visited explaining how the visit had enlightened meLaurenGayle wrote:I haven't heard a word...and didn't get the LOCI request a few weeks ago either...SanBun wrote:any movement for the ED deferred people? As far as standing a chance...I'm not holding my breath. I'd actually be thrilled with a reserve.

Is anyone else in my boat....i.e., haven't heard a peep from Columbia? Not held, not rejected (yet), just....nothing?

I wouldn't give up hope. Looking at LSN, there is usually a wave of 5-10 acceptances for deferred people in mid April, and that hasn't happened yet. Should come any day now. If we aren't in that wave, however, game over.

Strange that no major wave of hold decisions has gone out yet. For letters to arrive by the 21st, they would have to leave NYC pretty soon. NYC applicants would hear first, but there's been no widespread reporting of hold decisions AFAIK...Z3RO wrote:anxiety bump

The language in the letter implied that they'll try to make a decision by the 21st. Not you receive it by, but them making it. Unless I'm remembering wrong.

Could be, I also remember reading that the LOCI request letter from the end of March said they will make the decision by the 21st (I think).holybartender wrote:The language in the letter implied that they'll try to make a decision by the 21st. They've moved on to accepting by email though, so they may send all remaining decisions for the 21st group via email on that day. That would ensure they meet the deadline regardless of location.starsong wrote:Strange that no major wave of hold decisions has gone out yet.
