Re: Emory 2010
Gotta say I disagree with this and agree with the other undergrad assessments. As with any school, you can find a few people of your type, though I must say most groups radicalize as the cliques reinforce themselves. I came into Emory quite Southern, and am leaving a decidedly different person, maybe changed for the worse depending on your opinion. Though my LSATs ended up not working out as I expected and I had little chance of getting into Emory, I had long decided not to come to here again. The majority of the student body, as someone said before, is not comprised of people I would call my type, even now. I also love sports, but and Emory just doesn't focus on that.timelovesahero wrote:I went to Emory Undergrad and am a Southerner. I love the school and bleed blue and gold. I feel that while we don't have a school spirit based on athletics we have a strong one based on academic pride.
The part of town, however, is great if you have a car, which I do. I know from talking to Emory Law people and their friends that the law school is not as bad as the undergrad in the aforementioned ways, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I am wondering this too, although judging from LSN it looks like the fact that I haven't heard yet isn't the greatest sign in the world...does anyone know anything?? Is Emory generally pretty late with their decisions?

I'm wondering if mine got lost in the mail. 168/3.71 accepted 2/12 and no scholarship info yet. I really need to know how much I'm going to get before I can start considering them...hhg wrote:mine came separately but were received within a day of each other.krispykitten wrote:I'm an idiot-- question: do scholarship letters come w/the acceptance packet or separately?

Yes, with very similar dates and stats.set88 wrote:I'm wondering if mine got lost in the mail. 168/3.71 accepted 2/12 and no scholarship info yet. Re: Emory 2010
this was in the emory law staffer thread and i thought it might interest a lot of you if you haven't yet seen.
also...
Woodruffs: To be clear, if you applied for a Woodruff scholarship, you should not have received a scholarship notification in the mail yet. That does NOT mean that you are in any way at a disadvantage for a scholarship award. If you were going to get a scholarship, we have that money set aside for you already. As we evaluate the candidates, it’s possible that we might give you more than we originally set aside for you based on your application if the committee likes you a lot. If you go all the way and actually win the Fellowship, the award you would have received goes back into the pool and someone else will wind up with it. You should be hearing about your Woodruff status next week.
here's a link to the thread if you'd like to see more http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 8&start=50Scholarship notification: Unfortunately there’s no hard and fast rule about whether we are notifying people at the same time as we send them an acceptance or not. If we are able to do so, we’ve been sending it at the same time. For a variety of reasons, sometimes the scholarship offer will come a bit later. Again, we’re trying to get those out as quickly as possible.

Re: Emory 2010
I called yesterday and then said my file was in review, but I forgot to ask how long I should expect to wait before I receive a decision so I emailed them today and they replied saying a decision has been made. Have any denials or waitlists gone out yet? I'm SO nervous.
Also, how long after the letter was postmarked have people actually received their letters? Thanks!

Sent my app in mid Nov, complete email 1/19 but nothing since (outside of the communications survey email)- Does Emory frown upon people calling/emailing to inquire about their application? Doesn't seem like it based on what I've seen on this message board, but was just curious. Also is it true that Emory is now calling people they accept rather than simply mailing out packets?? Thanks!

Another day with no scholarship letter....
C'MON EMORY!!! This is literally the last piece of the puzzle for me to begin making a final decision. I'm definitely leaning towards an Emory commit and some decent money would nearly seal the deal here!

+1, except for the commit part. I just want them to give me an offer.hwstewart wrote:Another day with no scholarship letter....C'MON EMORY!!! Im holding out my diversity/163 status gets me some love. Come on Emory you fancy your self as having a diverse student body and a 163 is really close to 166. ...My cycle has been pretty crappy thus far so maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Edit: Also Atlanta is by far the warmest city I have applied to

Heard today! In with a 167/3.5 and awarded $54,000. Pretty excited. Still waiting on four other schools but it will probably come down to UGA with a little under $10k/year or Emory with $22k/year.
Is Emory worth $36k more than UGA if I want to practice in the Southeast (probably Atlanta?)

Re: Emory 2010
If you want to practice in Atlanta, you honestly can't go wrong with either of these schools. Georgia has a very loyal alumni network. I think there's something to be said for going to a lower ranked school where the competition (presumably?) won't be as tough.married0L wrote:Heard today! In with a 167/3.5 and awarded $54,000. I hope to be in the same boat as you; I'm already in at UGA with money, but am still waiting on Emory. 167/3.2.
I'd have to visit both and make a decision from there. I've already been to both schools but not with acceptances in my back pocket.
