Re: Villanova 2010
Yeah I sent in applications to about thirteen schools in December, January, and two in February. Villanova was early January. Still haven't heard back from Villanova, but I've heard from all of the other schools I applied to, regardless of when I submitted those applications. It's becoming a hilarious part of my day, checking the 'Nova status checker. I'm not really awesome or anything, but it's definitely been anomalous in respect to my experience with other schools.

Re: Villanova 2010
Visited VLS today. The new building is absolutely stunning. The student body seemed really nice, and I thought it had a really collegial, friendly feel. I visited a 1L elective class called Justice and Rights. While I don't think the substance of the class was for me, the class visit was worthwhile. The professors (yes, two of them) were very engaging, and I liked the amount of discussion that went on. One of the professors even invited the whole class to happy hour at Flip and Bailey's (the "law school bar") later in the week.
I was really impressed by VLS. Right now I'm choosing between 'Nova and Temple, and I think today's visit sealed the deal. I'm still waiting to hear from Penn, although I doubt I'll be admitted, so I'm pretty sure that I'll be attending VLS at this point.

I felt the same way when I visited. The law school building is one of the nicest academic buildings I have ever been in. There is a ton of natural light that comes through so the whole building feels bright and cheery. The classrooms are all the same style with beautiful oak desks. I didn't have a chance to sit in on a class but, based on the students and staff I did meet, I believe that Villanova is a very friendly community.tsk070 wrote:Visited VLS today. Yes. And I might point out that I went on what today was a dreary, rainy day. I can only imagine how much more I would have liked it had I gone on a nice day.nyred10 wrote:I felt the same way when I visited. Just got accepted via status checker within the last few hours, it is one of my top choices so I am pumped! I can't wait to visit, anyone have any hotel recommendations in the area? Also, when are the deposit deadlines?

First seat deposit deadline is April 15th. The next one is in June. The acceptance letter you will get in the mail as all the information about that. Congratulations!jkh wrote:Just got accepted via status checker within the last few hours, it is one of my top choices so I am pumped! When I visited, I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot at Devon. It was ~ $100 and it was a couple stop away on the R5 mainline rail.mikeyp wrote:radnor hotel is probably the closest, but i think its a bit pricey. otherwise there's a bunch of budget hotels 15 mins away in king of prussia.jkh wrote:Just got accepted via status checker within the last few hours, it is one of my top choices so I am pumped! Anyone have any idea about scholarship info and how that comes? Does it come with the financial aid info? I received a letter of acceptance a few days ago that was literally the only thing in the envelope. All of the other schools I've gotten into have sent me a folder/packet or at least some additional paperwork.

Shit, I just called Villanova asking if they could expedite my decision since they are the only school I haven't heard from. They said "You will have a decision before April 15th, but if we were to expedite it it wouldn't be a favorable decision." Seriously? I feel like with a 161 I should be a pretty safe bet here. Now I'm kind of worried. But honestly, that was just an awkward/rude phone call.

Re: Villanova 2010
Their median is 162 so you're below that and shouldn't really consider it a safe bet. It depends on your gpa, when you submitted and your softs. That said, LSN shows that you should be in.
I just got an email from the financial aid office telling me to log into their novasis system for my award but I need a "pin" to do it. I'm at the office so I don't have the acceptance letter here. Is the PIN on the letter?

I'd like to know this too. I got $15k/year, but I also applied for one of their special scholarships that require an additional statement and haven't heard anything.nooyyllib wrote:anyone successful in getting more than 15k/yr?

Yeah, I was basing it off LSN. I mean, just to tell someone with not horrible numbers that they'd get rejected for wanting their decision before deposits are due. Temple did it, and usually people with my numbers get waitlisted there, but I got in. So I don't see why they can't.

And calling someone to tell them they aren't quick enough for you, and asking them to hurry up, isn't rude? I'm not attacking you, but how many phone calls like that do you think they get per day? I'm sure its nothing against you, its just the nature of the beast. It probably has little to do with your LSAT, even though its below median, its just the amount of applicants they have to choose from (this is a more competitive cycle than the last, and arguably one of the most ever). Good luck.snowpeach06 wrote:Shit, I just called Villanova asking if they could expedite my decision since they are the only school I haven't heard from. It's all about the way you say it. Obviously I said it in a way that was very flattering to the school. Anyway, I don't think I care much anymore. I don't think Villanova would be worth sticker to me.mikeyp wrote:And calling someone to tell them they aren't quick enough for you, and asking them to hurry up, isn't rude?
