Called admissions today to check the status of my application... left a message, which was returned very promptly via e-mail. The e-mail said my application was "in line to be reviewed by their staff tomorrow"!

Anyone else had an update such as this, and subsequently received a decision, that can give me a timeframe from this point? edit: I see that an e-mail to applicants at this point in the process has stated they will receive a decision in May...ughhh.

Boulder is option 1B for me, and I went "decision letter in transit" at my 1A today. Hoping this is a lucky week!

When did you go complete at CU?

I might not be officially complete yet. My application fee and certification letter were received 2/19, and the e-mail I received today said that she could see from my electronic application that everything they need to consider my application complete is in their office.

I am stuck on the wait list CU is my first choice. I am meeting with them next week. I wonder whether you can defer off the wait list? That would be ideal, so that I can save more money working for another year. Although, if they let in just for this year, I'd jump at the chance.

My scholarship notice came via mail a couple of weeks ago. However, I am most likely withdrawing here in the next week or so (unless something jumps out and changes my mind) which means a seat and $50K will be available for the taking.

I received $19k with 165/2.97, so you might be looking good for a scholarship, but I am out of state so that might matter as well.

Don't hold your breath Mazzini. I got admitted in December with 169/3.4, and within the last two weeks received a letter in the mail offering a merit scholdarship of $5k per year. I feel kinda shafted actually - I'm not only in-state, but I was expecting more from CU. I'm with Mazzini in that CU isn't my first choice, but with any (serious) scholarship they would have been a serious consideration.

Hey, it sounds bratty, but I've got accepted to better schools offering me more $$. To be honest, they're going to have to give me more grants in my financial aid package or at least come close to matching some of the offers I have elsewhere, or they're going to lose me for 2013.

Wow... that's disconcerting. If that's all they could offer I would immediately withdraw.

Eh... The COL estimate provided by the school is a low-ball. Boulder is actually a very expensive place to live.

I think 15k for 9 months is about right, if you have a car and you don't live high on the hog.

Even if you live in a 1 bedroom apartment you should easily be able to get by on 15k (talking about all 12 months). I am pretty sure I'll be able to live for under 10k with roommates. It is a very expensive place but you're underestimating just how frugal it is possible to be.

Fully aware that the following is solely anecdotal, I lived in Boulder for 11 months, alone and in a mediocre place, with a car, for about 1k a month. I didn't really spend a whole lot of time doing anything fun, and I ate most of my meals at my sisters' houses, so that saved some money. My rent was about $700, which included most of my utilities, and my car expenses totaled about $100 a month. You'd certainly be more comfortable on $1200 per month, though.

Point is 10k for 9 months is what I expect the minimum to be if you have a car and moderate expenditures for an otherwise broke-ass student.

Just FYI, you can appeal your COL to receive more fin aid (loans) if needed!

Yeah, I'm sure it's doable. I was just passing on advice from friends who warned that it's much pricier than what you expect from an inland college town, which is probably true. I've been getting by in NYC on $1,400 a month for a while now, so I'm not overly concerned.

ah, i was going off the ABA guide, either way still a good deal if you compare it to out of state/private school costs

I also got the 5k scholarship for the first year only. It feels more like an incentive to enroll than a scholarship, even with residency. It's more like getting cash back when you buy a new car.

I just checked the mail and got a waitlist letter . Really felt like a punch to the stomach at this point in my cycle but I'm trying to be optimistic. How many people get off the waitlist and what should I do to improve my chances? I'll be sending a LOCI to hopefully push myself over the edge. 162/3.5

Same boat as you, and I'm in-state. Sending a LOCI this week, as well as a letter of rec from my employer (managing attorney at CO law firm). Send a LOCI soon.
