That's probably a good thing, given that the first person we know of to go to "decision" has not been an acceptance. While it's possible that not all the "decision" people have been deferred, it obviously means they're not all accepted either.finalaspects wrote:Definitely seems like they're waiting to see if you really want to attend cornell. it is definitely better then being waitlisted. deferral? ugh. Oh, well. Why couldn't they just update the status checker to reflect that?

Lots of confusion and panic in this thread...
For once, I'm actually glad to not be at decision.

11/24- meaning that maybe is the acceptance batch?
11/20-Deferred?
Ugh so confusing. Also, I would have gotten a deferral letter today. I live in DC.

nope....it looks like you and the other person from the 11/20 batch who got an interview request are in better shape then the rest of us merely deferred applicants.swc65 wrote:najumobi wrote:EA Application: 9/30

Re: Cornell waiting room
Well, I still think some 11/24 are acceptances and deferral.
This guy:
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/ankit
would have been an autoadmit (granted some sort of criminal record)... but I doubt that since he has been accepted to other places.
Also, I would have gotten a deferral letter (I live in DC) which is closer to NY then NC.
Ugh. Headace coming along. I don't get it. Or unless this cycle is going to be harsh (with the stoopid econ) so they are deferring people b/c they don't know what the app pool is going to look at.

I think it is weird that they are sending out deferrals so early (and other non-acceptance letters).najumobi wrote:nope....it looks like you and the other person from the 11/20 batch who got an interview request are in better shape then the rest of us merely deferred applicants.swc65 wrote:najumobi wrote:EA Application: 9/30

Sorry to hear about your deferral. I hope you will still have a great cycle.

This has not proven to be the case thus far this cycle, at least as far as other schools go.avacado111 wrote:Or unless this cycle is going to be harsh (with the stoopid econ) so they are deferring people b/c they don't know what the app pool is going to look at.

I don't really know. Remember Iowa... apps are up significantly this time compared to last year. But that could be for other reasons. You don't really know.crackberry wrote:This has not proven to be the case thus far this cycle, at least as far as other schools go.avacado111 wrote:Or unless this cycle is going to be harsh (with the stoopid econ) so they are deferring people b/c they don't know what the app pool is going to look at.

what makes you say this? other than auto-admits (who are recession-proof) do you know of any borderline or splitter that got in this cycle which makes you think this?

Re: Cornell waiting room
Yeah but look at the LSN graphs for Duke, Georgetown and Michigan. They seem to be shaping up pretty similarly to last year's. I think apps might be up at the 15-30 schools but among the top tier, it looks pretty similar to last cycle, at least this early in the game.avacado111 wrote:I don't really know.
