Re: Yale 2010
Yale, this thing you do to me is not healthy.
To anyone wondering why I've been ranting at Yale lately, it's because I've spent the last two days trying to figure out what the hell this 250 thing is supposed to be. I've finally finished it; my app should be in by tonight.

Re: Yale 2010
*Sigh* Since about Thanksgiving, I've spent almost every weekend finding various ways to put off writing my 250. I've started it about a dozen times. I'll write two sentences, feel stupid, and then go out drinking. It seems like there is so much riding on this silly little essay.tomhobbes wrote:Yale, this thing you do to me is not healthy.

I'm grateful that the Yale deadline is mid-February. If it were the end of March, I'd probably keep this up for another two months.

It is done. I'll see you in Hell, Yale.
Or New Haven, if you'll admit me.

Not sure. I sent one about my app (a personal question, easy to answer) and got no response. I can't seem to call them eitherfidesverita wrote:Has anyone sent updates to Yale? (updated resume, lor, etc)
Do they ever respond to emails?

Also, I am sick of their snooty "wannabe hip" twitter comments... Also, do they ONLY call on Saturdays? Maybe H and Y are jockeying as to who can be the most aggravating towards applicants this year.

I.
AM.
OUT.
It's a relief, actually. I'm glad the waiting is over and I can concentrate on the places that have accepted me.
Yale, we could have been great together, but it's time for me to move on and stop thinking about you.

rejected today.....it hurts.....esp to be in the first batch.....like they didn't even want to keep you around long enough to see what the pool is like.....but it is probably better in a lot of ways than the JR1-but-no-JR2 limbo bc now i can just move on

Yale was the longest of long reaches for me, so I am not overly broken up about it. Of course, I had entertained the fantasy that they would appreciate me for the unique and special snowflake that I am, but it was not to be.
To answer your question, I applied by Nov 10th or so, and went complete o 11/25. They REALLY didn't want me

Congrats to those who have made it, and good luck to all who are still waiting!

Re: Yale 2010
I'm still paralyzed by the 250 (almost two months after I sent in my other apps)....
Question: On pages 5-6 of the yale application, where it asks:
5.
a) List significant extra-curricular activities in college (and after graduation in order of importance to you). Please estimate your time commitment for each activity.
b) Self-support (employment) while in college and on vacations
c) Other activities in or out of school or work that you consider important.
6. If it has been more than three months since you attended an educational institution, please describe what you have been doing in this interval.
Are they looking for a narrative, essay-like description? Or bullet-point, resume-style?
Any help appreciated...

I did mine with a few short sentences describing each activity. (No answer for #6 because it didn't apply.) I thought it was weird that they required the answers even if a resume was also attached.teach12 wrote:I'm still paralyzed by the 250 (almost two months after I sent in my other apps)....

My suggestion is to format it in the way that you think makes you look best as an applicant. That was my approach. Didn't really question it.

Anyone in CA get these rejection letters?
I'm afraid one is coming for me... and I'll have to wait an extra day or two for the pleasure.
I really wish they did it with email...

+1. There is no credited answer for the best way to prepare the Yale application. People have approached it every which way. Some submit separate attachments for each question while others put all the answers in a single attachment; some write a paragraph for each answer while others just copy and paste the relevant bullet points from their resumes.VoidSix wrote:My suggestion is to format it in the way that you think makes you look best as an applicant. I asked this and was told someone in SF received theirs on Saturday. I'm really scared to check my mailbox tomorrowKulax22 wrote:Anyone in CA get these rejection letters?I'm afraid one is coming for me... and I'll have to wait an extra day or two for the pleasure.

Bummer... hopefully I am not getting one. But I feel like "it's coming!" (cue Jaws music)
Time to think positively

Anyone know from the past: do we now expect weekly Saturday calls? Is this a recurring thing now, or will it become completely random in the next two months?

I just realized that I never updated my transcript for my fall grades, and I sent my app in yesterday. My fall grades would keep me at exactly the same GPA. Should I send an updated transcript?

I would. Let 'em know you're no slacker, etc. Mail it directly if you don't want to bother with LSAC -- spoke to them on the phone about this; they don't mind.tomhobbes wrote:I just realized that I never updated my transcript for my fall grades, and I sent my app in yesterday.
