Checked status via phone call. Complete and in review. Anyone know of a status checker for Miami?

They'll email it to you, probably shortly, if you're in for review right now.Edge427 wrote:Checked status via phone call. Complete and in review. Anyone know of a status checker for Miami?
Most of us got an email to a status checker, logged in for the first time, and saw "Congratulations!"

Re: In at Miami!
Very weird, got no email from them until an email telling me to create an ID...
which then I logged in, and got my first acceptance to any law school.
I know its been repeated a thousand times, Miami is probably on the low end of my choices, but that first acceptance means I'm going to law school somewhere, and thats a pretty good feeling to have.

Re: In at Miami!
Hey Everyone,
My top choices are Miami and Hawaii (mostly for reasons other than climate, but why not?!). If I don't get a scholarship at Miami, is it still worth it to go there? $36k per year is a lot of coin. There are, of course, factors other than financial. I'm interested in tax law at Miami, but I've also lived in Southeast Asia and like Hawaii for its Asian-law focus. Right now I'm not sure which type of law I really want to practice, but Hawaii does have a much lower cost of tuition (especially after I obtain residency).
Anyway, I would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks

Re: In at Miami!
What do you guys think the accuracy is on the median salary statistics for Miami? I know schools like to fudge the numbers, but Miami has $100k+ median starting on several different sources. I can see myself justifying 40k/year if this is the case...

I think 36K is way too much for Miami. I'd go to Hawaii before Miami if it were me, but you should prepare yourself to live in HI for several years.

Re: In at Miami!
Miami posted some pretty in depth employment charts and graphs on their website that is helpful (though only with a 40% reporting rate). The median salary for 2007 grads was, $78,000. One telling stat is that 66% of grads in private practice claim to work in firms of 25 attorneys or less whereas 17.5% work in firms with over 100 attorneys. I guess this is fairly consistent with what everyone already knows so take from it what you would like.Matlock31 wrote:What do you guys think the accuracy is on the median salary statistics for Miami? I heard that if you are not from Hawaii you have an almost zero chance of finding work on "the rock"Mitchske wrote:mrman17 wrote:Hey Everyone,

Re: In at Miami!
chat room going on now, someone already asked the question we've been dying to know:
"i heard a wild rumor that miami lumps everyone that got a scholarship, regardless of how much $, all in the same section. is that true?"
UMLaw Student Rob: That scholarship lumping rumor is not true
that's good to hear for all your scholly kids
