Applied on 1/5. Interviewed on 12/19.
I was actually thinking of applying for the VLS merit schol program. I was working on it while I got the acceptance mail. Do you think I can apply for it now? Or would it be odd? Kicking myself for not applying earlier.

Re: Vanderbilt Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Thanks! What I was fearing is a worst case scenario wherein my scholarship amount would be affected if they see me as an opportunistic caring to send in the form only after receiving an admit. I had anyway started filling in the form before the receipt of the admit. Submitted it and also wrote to Dean sirko-johnson (who interviewed me) and Dean Morton. They acknowledged receipt of my submission within hours and Dean sirko-johnson personally congratulated me. Appears a very warm team. Btw, thinking of attending one of the Asian alumni receptions . Anyone else up for it in this part of the world?Mr. Meeseeks wrote:I submitted mine on the 17th and got a notification today that they received it.floatie wrote:If it makes you feel any better, I sent mine in today. I think they mentioned sometime in February. I think they did that so they can have people's FAFSA/CSS info.Yitzhak26 wrote:Does anyone know when Vanderbilt gives out scholly information / when they award the Law Scholars Merit Awards?
I was admitted in mid-December and am currently a Vandy senior.

It's generally the last week in February. I think it's even gone into the first week of March at one point in the last few years.Yitzhak26 wrote:Yeah, I saw that in the admission email, but I was wondering if anyone who got in last year (or who read last year's thread) could be more precise. Re: Vanderbilt Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I had mine in person a while back. Gist of it was the interviewer had looked at my resume/credentials beforehand and had a few questions for me about it (interests/work experience/etc).0LawSchool wrote:I have my alumni interview tomorrow.... anything in particular I should prepare for? I've read its pretty relaxed.
They have a list of questions to ask/go through if you're bad at keeping conversation (not how my interview went, but he showed me the list). My interviewer told me a little of his background/why he chose VLS.
Overall it was a great experience, and he even helped me finish out my list of schools that I was applying to. Afterwards, they do a short write-up and rank you (percentage-wise) in a bunch of categories.

Most candidates seem to get asked some version of Why Law & Why Vandy. Just try to be personable; the interview is super chill and the alum is trying to sell you on the school and the programs it has that fit your interests. I get the impression the alum is also trying to figure out how well a candidate will fit in with Vandy's environment.0LawSchool wrote:I have my alumni interview tomorrow.... anything in particular I should prepare for? Oh boy, I would love to know what those categories are.mrgstephe wrote:Afterwards, they do a short write-up and rank you (percentage-wise) in a bunch of categories.

If you're lucky, your interviewer might send you the form they submit back to the school. Mine did. Pretty sure I deleted it after reading over everythingGitaroo_Dude wrote:Most candidates seem to get asked some version of Why Law & Why Vandy. Great, thanks for the advice everyone! I usually do decently in interviews, so I should be fine (hopefully.)mrgstephe wrote:If you're lucky, your interviewer might send you the form they submit back to the school. Mine did. So I applied 01/06 and my portal says my application was complete 01/10 but there is nothing listed under "fees" or "requirements list," is this normal? Every other status check portal has my materials listed. Too my knowledge everything has been sent. There is no evidence that I had my interview either. Should I contact admissions about this? Thanks!

Pretty sure you're fine. Don't bother admissions about it. If there was an issue with your materials, you'd be incomplete.cam1992 wrote:So I applied 01/06 and my portal says my application was complete 01/10 but there is nothing listed under "fees" or "requirements list," is this normal? +1. I still don't have anything under mine, and I was accepted two weeks ago. YMMV w/ status checkers across the board.brinicolec wrote:Pretty sure you're fine. Don't bother admissions about it. I am, but they put me on hold for the Feb LSAT for some unexplainable reason. Interview+applied in Nov. LSAT=median, GPA > 75th. I think I might call them and ask that I not be held again, since my email saying that was apparently ignoredsomedeadman wrote:Anyone else still waiting?

Checking in. I applied, but I doubt I'll get in as my numbers aren't great (161/3.85) and I missed the deadline for their interviews.

On the site it says apps completed and in review in September and October usually have their decisions December through January. If we were one of those ppl and still haven't heard anything (January is about over), does this mean a probable WL/ding?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
