Complete 1.25 and I'm dying too. Could've sworn there was going to be movement this week.mayorscurvy wrote:Been UR since Jan. 11. Anyone else in the same boat? Wait is killing me.

Re: Boston University C/O 2019 (2015-2016) Applicants
Just got scholarship info - 18k per year. Not bad, but it will still leave me with a lot of debt. I have an offer for 35k a year from American in DC.
BU was my most competitive application, so I'm very happy to be in with some money. Still, I'm starting to doubt how comfortable I will be with the pressure of paying back such large loans. Leaning toward American, both for final cost and their DC location. I am thinking government law is for me, anyway. Thoughts?

I successfully negotiated my BU scholarship up today. It only took them about a week to respond which is by far the quickest turnaround time I've gotten when negotiating scholarships

I would try neg see how much more you can get... but I personally don't think I would go for less than half. Even then its a lot of money. I mean it did hit T20 but the thought of that much debt is indeed scarykrockband wrote:Just got scholarship info - 18k per year. Not bad, but it will still leave me with a lot of debt. This week is the one, I can feel it.
Does anyone know the 1st deposit deadline? I'm assuming it's April 15 like BC.

There is some movement - I went complete in late November/early December and just received the acceptance call. (>75% LSAT, ~median GPA) Don't lose hope!

finally got an answer. they gave me nothing and said they cannot reconsider until after the deadline. looks like BU is off the table for me oddly enough. thought they would have given me something damnSmallville wrote:Yeah they probably gave you a generic answer (unless they looked it up) but I was admitted around Feb 23rd and called a week later when I was told I got nothingLUPend wrote:I was accept 1/6 but I went to the Admitted Students Day last week and talked to finaid and they said to just keep waiting and be patient. I guess I will give them a call todaySmallville wrote:When did you get your acceptance? and did you call? Notre Dame gave me some decent $ so hoping they come pretty close to it. Almost wrote BU off until I got ND scholly notice

Can't reconsider until after the deadline? that's odd. Did they tell you that when you called? or was it in mail/email? Do you have any competitive offers? I would just ask anyways. While it is a bit later if you have something to bring to them they should look into it. I just sent my ND offer to them asking for reconsideration last week and they said they are reviewing itLUPend wrote:finally got an answer. they gave me nothing and said they cannot reconsider until after the deadline. looks like BU is off the table for me oddly enough. thought they would have given me something damnSmallville wrote: Yeah they probably gave you a generic answer (unless they looked it up) but I was admitted around Feb 23rd and called a week later when I was told I got nothing

they told me over the phone. yea I am going to send some competing offers anyway. I'm hoping a strong Fordham offer can make them budge a little bit. let me know if they get back to you. BU would be my top choice as I was really impressed with the school at their ASDSmallville wrote:Can't reconsider until after the deadline? that's odd. Current 1L who had no ties previous to moving here. Didn't to be an issue in 1L employment for me, was asked in interviews but if you have an answer they accepted it. There's a lot of people here who had no ties to Boston. The legal market is growing quickly here and from the people I've talked to, ties to Boston ultimately matter in OCI but to what extent varies by firm. Some explicitly say they don't care because they can just transfer you to another office if needed, but the ones whose main office is Boston want a little more reason.JDilemma wrote:I'm in the same boat. I think your employment opportunities are going to be decided more on merit than networking. Obviously it doesn't hurt to have a strong base in the area, but I think you'll be fine as long as you do well in school.bluefish91 wrote:Is anyone who is considering BU not from Boston and has no ties to the area? I am in this situation, but visited Boston and liked it a lot. I'm wondering how much my lack of ties to the city will hurt my employment opportunities...

well BU finally got back to me on scholly neg, offered 25k a year... not looking too promising since ND would cost me about 10k more a year
