Will you not be taking out any COL loans? If you take out full COA with 20k a year, you will have closer 175k by the time you graduate.Chrissy1018 wrote:Hey Guys. Got accepted with 20k a year. Full ride to St. John's brooklyn cardozo. Don't know if I want to go into "Big Law"
Any thoughts on if fordham is worth 120K in debt?

Since you don't want to do biglaw, what do you want to do? This is critical in choosing a school.Chrissy1018 wrote:Hey Guys. Got accepted with 20k a year. Full ride to St. John's brooklyn cardozo. Don't know if I want to go into "Big Law"

I'm open to anything. If I had an option to do big law i would probably take it but the work culture at these firms doesn't appeal to me. I'm not die hard for these massive power firms.TheMikey wrote:Since you don't want to do biglaw, what do you want to do? This is critical in choosing a school.Chrissy1018 wrote:Hey Guys. International/bankruptcy/tort/ any size law firm if the starting pay isn't god awful (hoping to at least start 75K+). I would be open to working in Queens/Brooklyn firms. I work in a very small firm now in Brooklyn and I like the client interaction and the more personal cases. Not necessarily public interest though, but a smaller private firm would be doable. Also liking the thought of taking the international route and ending up at a NGO. If not that then open to the idea of starting my own firm down the line in real estate/estate matters but i know I will need some experience before that happens.

If you want to work in a small firm, and that is the desired outcome then personally I would take a full ride. Since you're open to just about anything, having no debt is great, especially since you'll be living at home!Chrissy1018 wrote:I'm open to anything. If I had an option to do big law i would probably take it but the work culture at these firms doesn't appeal to me. Being very careful about any scholarship stipulations, I would take a full ride over Fordham given the level you would graduate with and your goals.

Mine was under review since 3/15. I emailed them (again) saying that my second deposit deadlines are looming and they said that they would "do their best" to expedite my decision. Fingers crossed that I find out in the next couple of days

Re: Fordham Law c/o 2019
I need advice. I am admitted into Fordham pt evening school. They gave me 15k. St. Johns is giving me a full scholarship. In your opinion what is a better choice? I currently have a Fed govt job. I am not sure whether I want to go into govt or biglaw after law school. advice/tips please!
btw, I paid the deposit for both to get some extra decision time.

Finally got the call from Ms. Espiritu this morning. Did not think I was getting in considering how late in the game it is. Most likely sticker at Fordham or full at dozo… what would you do?

Re: Fordham Law c/o 2019
Fordham is the last school I'm waiting to hear from.
Submitted my application on 3/1 and it was received on 3/2. On 3/11 it was indicated as complete and then "current status date" changed to 4/27 while the application still marked as complete. Has anyone else had this happen to them? This Friday it will have been 10 weeks since my application initially was marked as complete...really want to get an idea of when I'll hear back. Not feeling very hopeful.

Today is the last seat deposit deadline, so waitlist movement probably won't happen until tomorrow at the earliest (so that they can determine which seats have opened up).agent_hibachi wrote:Has there been any waitlist movement?

I applied back in March and finally got a response today, in with $$. Not sure what that means for the WL if they are still getting through applicants.

I spoke to them today. They said since that deadline is today, they're not going to start looking at the waitlist until next week the earliest.trmckenz wrote:Today is the last seat deposit deadline, so waitlist movement probably won't happen until tomorrow at the earliest (so that they can determine which seats have opened up).agent_hibachi wrote:Has there been any waitlist movement?
