Seat deposit showed up under the "fees" section of my status checker. Second UCR 12/10, RD. Does this mean anything or am I just getting my hopes up?

OMG - is that new?! It's on mine also - but I have no idea when it showed up, it might have been there the whole time for all I know...

OMG - is that new?! It's on mine also - but I have no idea when it showed up, it might have been there the whole time for all I know...

Not new- always been there. Also, people last year had this same freak out!! No one notices the seat deposit thing until they're refreshing every 5 minutes. It means nothing.

LSAC did just post an article that applications are down a little over 15% this year so schools across the board are probably being slow to decide what to do with their numbers and see if the projections are true! Just a thought though

I checked in earlier but just now posting my stats:

RD
LSAT above 75th and GPA 50-75th
Above average softs but non-URM
Submitted and application complete in September

Anyone know how soon they generally send out first wave RD notifications after ED? Best of luck to everyone!

LSAC did just post an article that applications are down a little over 15% this year so schools across the board are probably being slow to decide what to do with their numbers and see if the projections are true! Just a thought though

So chances of getting accepted are higher this year? I've heard that applications have been steadily decreasing since 2009.

We can only hope. A lot of T-14 schools may try to save their numbers any way possible. The amount of lsat takers has gone down pretty drastically too so hopefully their are just not enough high scorers. If scores drop I would not expect them to drop much. These schools have reps they want to keep. However, schools in lower tiers are going to probably see larger drops in numbers! Not sure whether they would sacrifice gpa or lsat, both are relatively important

This shouldn't affect this class however in terms of creating smaller class sizes, because the schools are already budgeted out and will be in need of tuition money to fund the budget. On the other side of the coin, this could mean less scholarship money instead.

Either way, let's just hope it helps us all get into some better schools than we would normally.

So my shitty analysis is that a drop in high LSATs puts an even higher premium on 170 holders. I presume the individuals with 170 and really low GPAs who ED'd will get accepted (more so than usual). People with high GPAs and LSAT scores that fall below the median will get deferred and will be reconsidered later when schools have secured their 170 medians. I realize this is the usual trend, but given the drop in the number of individuals with higher LSAT scores it will probably govern the decision making process more than usual.

Otherwise, you can accept the fact that I'm an applicant, not a Dean of Admissions, and have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.

"Correct. If you have AWFUL numbers, you'll get rejected at a time the reflects the average throughout the past few years' cycles. Accordingly, if you have stellar numbers, schools will be jumping over each other to get you in and entice you to choose them.

If you fall anywhere in the middle... it's gonna be a long while because schools don't want to commit to potentially dropping the caliber of their admitted students before seeing the whole crop. So top schools won't reject you outright, they'll hold you until they need you. If tomorrow isn't the day (I really think it will be), then it can't really be later than next friday.

I doubt they'll postpone it past the 20th, I imagine many people will be taking their vacation days after next friday if the admissions office itself isn't closed, so they'd want to get it done before then. That being said, I'm rooting for tomorrow because it seems a little odd to release decisions and then not have people available to answer questions for admitted students for several days afterwards. (ED speculation, obviously, since there's a December 31st notification deadline for us)

Based on previous years it seems to start around noon (EST) but it has started later. I guess there's still a small possibility. Too hopeful to think maybe they made calls already to applicants not on TLS?
