Definitely not. Only 1) borderline candidates, 2) YP candidates (not your case since you ED'd), 3) applicants they want more information on before issuing a decision, or 4) applicants they like. All candidates that are possible admits are getting an interview this cycle. So, good sign, and great turn around time. Best of luck! Let us know how it goes.sfsf999 wrote:sorry if this question has already been answered but do ALL applicants get interviews? i submitted my app ED on monday and just received an email to set up an interview.

Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I've only seen one this cycle. Last cycle this was very much the case for most admits when UVA had a heavier YP strategy. This cycle, I believe I've only heard of one direct acceptance phone call. So, I think the standard is interview all candidates (or at least 99%) who are possible admits.charlie.black wrote:Not totally true. Obviously there's some people that we don't know about, and we don't have the biggest sample size, but it is reasonable to say that almost all competitive applicants are getting interviews.charlie.black wrote:Not totally true. Been complete since September, well above 75% LSAT, below median GPA but above 25%, and I've heard nothing. Didn't write why UVA essay. I'm guessing not writing that essay is going to lead to YP potentially. Hope not!

That makes two.Daily_Double wrote:For reference, I applied under the ED option, but I wasn't interviewed. I wouldn't worry about it, though I did for about two days, if you aren't asked to interview, it's beyond your control. Good luck guys.
Oh and my application information was a 172, 3.2, no why UVA, non-urm.

Got an email encouraging me to sign up for their newsletter to learn more about them as they learn more about me and advising me to click on past ones to check them out. Is this a secret YP thing to see HOW INTERESTED I AM?

I realize that this isn't the biggest sample size but have people been getting waitlisted or heard of others getting waitlisted after the interview? My numbers are quite low (169/3.5) so I'm pretty surprised I'm getting an interview!

I got the same email (actually got it twice), and was also received an interview request yesterday from Dean Dugas. FYI, I did not sign up for the newsletter.wtrc wrote:Got an email encouraging me to sign up for their newsletter to learn more about them as they learn more about me and advising me to click on past ones to check them out. Can we do an applicant spreadsheet (like on the Harvard thread)? I'm interested to see who is getting interviews.

Have more confidence in yourself. Those aren't low numbers for this cycle. Should I bother applying? I just got a fee waiver but with 3.49/168 I am assuming it is probably just to bump up their rejections?

You would be borderline. Depending on the rest of the application you have a shot that's definitely worth taking (at least from what we've seen from other applicants with similar or lower numbers this cycle). What does it hurt to apply if you have a fee waiver?Chriz wrote:Should I bother applying? I just got a fee waiver but with 3.49/168 I am assuming it is probably just to bump up their rejections?

Oh and when you enter your numbers they will automatically turn the proper color for coding, so don't try to change it to that color it's scripted.RCO2012 wrote:Alright. Here you go everyone.

For those of you who are admits. Here is a little glimpse of what you have to look forward to:

ATL wrote:The comments from current students at UVA paint quite the happy picture:
-UVa is simply a dream place to attend law school.
-It is simply the perfect combination between strong academics and a pleasant environment.
-It’s always weird to hear about how miserable my friends at other schools are, because life’s pretty good at UVA. It’s still a lot of work but the social and academic atmosphere is really great. They aren’t kidding with those quality of life rankings. Career Services has been really helpful, too.
-Law school doesn’t have to suck. If you can get in at UVA, then you should go to UVA.
-Non-competitive/non-cutthroat atmosphere. Professors are brilliant and incredibly accessible.
Is there something in the water there? This is just a representative sampling of comments, which were nearly unanimously positive. Good on you, Cavs. Your peer students at other schools must envy you.

I have a nice Google spreadsheet I made for the GULC thread - would you guys be interested in me maintaining one for this thread to track results?
