I only know that it is doable. I do know someone going to Boston, who got there through their own hustle. The school also has a small Boston interview program, that I don't know much about. I really don't know much about Chicago, but the school did cancel its interview program there in the last couple years. New York on the other hand is the second most common state bar taken by W&M grads, and the New York interview program is both robust and successful, in my opinion.goCATSgo wrote:JayJones78 wrote:Well I guess the #1 thing will be what would you say to people who are looking at both W&L and W&M and hope to not be in VA at end (for the sake of this question there are no other options and the person cannot retake and go to a different school). Current W&M 2L here. Happy to take questions here or via PM, just to help anyone out if you're evaluating W&M. Just trying to "pay it forward" after a lot of folks have helped me, etc.
+1
Also, how are the job prospects if go to W&M but want to work in a different city (Boston, NYC, Chicago?)
Thanks!

In with 30k. Got the call from the dean on Sunday. Pretty sure this is where I'll be going!

Received a nice solicitous email this morning with some further information on the school. Frankly it hasn't been on my radar but I'm impressed with most everything besides the location. Hopefully I'm not too late in the game though.
3.6/164...competitive enough hopefully.

So did anyone end up trying to negotiate for more merit aid?

30K/year or 30k total? Are you a URM?racmyers23 wrote:In with 30k. Got the call from the dean on Sunday. Pretty sure this is where I'll be going!

I've been under review for more than 2 months now. I kind of want to withdraw my application just because the school is pissing me off at this point. I've already heard back from 12/13 schools I applied to.

I did. I forwarded them my scholarship offers from UVA and Florida. I emailed the dean and literally 30 minutes later she emailed me right back increasing my offer. I have been so impressed with how prompt, attentive, and friendly W&M has been so fartalesofyore wrote:So did anyone end up trying to negotiate for more merit aid?

I also got the key chain and notepad. First package of little goodies received from any of the law schools I've applied to so far.

Oh and I think it's really strange you haven't heard anything yet. I heard back after a week... If you don't mind me asking, are your numbers competitive? Maybe you should give them a call and see if they're waiting on something before deciding on your file?tony2167 wrote:30K/year or 30k total? Are you a URM?racmyers23 wrote:In with 30k. I didn't hear back for like three months and I eventually got in (with 13k/yr), so it may not be what you think. If you like the school you should just hold out.lookingin wrote:Oh and I think it's really strange you haven't heard anything yet. I heard back after a week... I agree. I think just withdrawing becaused they are 'pissing you off' will accomplish nothing. They won't care and you will have one less option to choose from. If you already spent money (or even just a report fee) on them, what's the logic behind it?FortunaGubernans wrote:I didn't hear back for like three months and I eventually got in (with 13k/yr), so it may not be what you think. 15k per year to 20k per year. And all it took was like 30 minutes of my time. So that's another $15,000 towards law schooltalesofyore wrote:Nice! What was your before and after?lookingin wrote:I did. Nope! I'm not a URM, but my softs were quite strong, and I am an Alaskan resident which probably helps me out a lot since very very few Alaskans apply for schools not on the west coast. Got an email of acceptance today... not very fun. I was hoping for a little suspense. Waking up to "You've been admitted to William and Mary" in the tagline isn't exactly exciting, but still stoked on it either way. Bummed I didn't get a scholarship offer though. Does anyone know if they wait for you to get other acceptances or something? At the risk of sounding arrogant I really expected a scholarship offer from them.
