Visited a few weeks ago and LOVED it. Students, professors, staff, such a great place to be. Now just to get myself off the waitlist...

Updated employment stats in case anyone haven't seen them:
http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=notredame
Not T14 sexy, but not bad either. 9.2% Fed Clerkship and 22.4% Big law are an improvement over last year.

If there will be no scholarship, which one do you think is more worthy? Notre Dame, Emory, WUSL or GWU?

You shouldn't be going to any of these at stickertracy77 wrote:If there will be no scholarship, which one do you think is more worthy? Notre Dame, Emory, WUSL or GWU?

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2016 Applicants
How about some 5-14 schools? I'm also considering transfer after LL.M, but I think it's quite unlikely for them to provide scholarship to transfer students. Btw, do you know any of T14 schools provide loans or will act as co-signer for int'l students?Xs20 wrote:You shouldn't be going to any of these at stickertracy77 wrote:If there will be no scholarship, which one do you think is more worthy? ND, unless you want to work in St. L, or DC area. ND has a much wider national reach. Before looking at TLS.com, Im not sure I had even heard of emory, and knew very little about WUSLtracy77 wrote:If there will be no scholarship, which one do you think is more worthy? Edit: These are all good schools. I think they will all do ok in certain regions, but ND has national reach, good fed clerkship placement, ok big law and employment, so it depends on your goals. Want to work in Georgia..Emory! But overall, ND.

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2016 Applicants
What are you basing this on? None of them have an overwhelmingly national reach, other than (maybe) to somewhere you have strong ties, and even then, you're going to need the grades (and luck) to get there. My tour of ND was led by a 3L from Boston who was on law review and in the top 10% of her class and couldn't get a job at a Boston firm. The real answer is that none of these schools are worth sticker.matrim wrote:ND, unless you want to work in St. L, or DC area. What does that have to do with anything? Before looking at TLS.com, Im not sure I had even heard of emory, and knew very little about WUSL
Tracy, to answer your second question, it seems like the general consensus here is that the only schools truly worth sticker are HYS and maybe Columbia and Chicago.

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2016 Applicants
Many of NDs peers (according to USNews rank that is) are not going to place as well as ND outside of their given spheres of influence. U of Washington, USC (in '09&'08 86% of grads stayed in Cali), etc. are not going to place in NY & D.C. as well as Notre Dame, but UW will place really well in Washington, USC Really well in Cali etc(yet ND still has a good chance to work in Wash & Cali).
ND Class of 2011 placed in 31 States plus DC, TOP 3 places were Illinois, DC, and New York. ND Class of 2012 placed in 32 two states and top 7 places were 1. Illinois 2. California 3. Indiana 4. New York 5. Ohio 6. Florida 7. Texas == Strong National Reach Plus 10% in FED Clerkships (compare that to Em, GW, WUSL).
Bottom Line, make a educated decision when comparing where to go vs. Debt vs. Your Goals. I mentioned that before reading TLS, I hadnt heard of Emory (not to say bad school, just not a nationally branded school).
Is ND worth Sticker, IDK? Not up to me, but strong facts saying that DECIDING (not saying at sticker since question was "who is more worthy" ) between WUSL, GW, Emory == ND is a solid choice.

Oh and My tour of ND was totally different. The student who showed me around was upper half of his class and seemed very happy with his future job prospects.Xs20 wrote:My tour of ND was led by a 3L from Boston who was on law review and in the top 10% of her class and couldn't get a job at a Boston firm. WUSTL C/O 2012:
33 states + DC + 8 foreign countries
1. Missouri
2. Illinois
3. DC
4. New York
5. California
6. Texas

But again, none of these schools have a national reach in that you can end up wherever you want whether you have ties to that area or not. Most of the reason that schools like ND, WUSTL, etc. place grads into so many states is because of self-selection (i.e. people returning to their hometown where they have ties). Also, ND hired almost 23% of its own grads into school-funded positions in 2011.

Miss quote - - I said compare the 10% Fed Clerkships - which you omited in your quoting of me! But yes WUSLT did place in other states. And if ND employed its graduates, that says why indiana is on the list, not the other places I mentioned giving it NATIONAL reach!Xs20 wrote:Ok.matrim wrote:ND Class of 2012 placed in 32 two states and top 7 places were 1. Nope. I was talking about FED Clerkships compared to all three. Quote left that out to make it seem otherwise.Homelandsagreatshow wrote:Xs20 wrote:Ok.matrim wrote:ND Class of 2012 placed in 32 two states and top 7 places were 1. Illinois 2. California 3. Anyone know why the numbers jumped from around 20% school funded to almost none in just one year? Is LST off?! Something's not right here...sublime12089 wrote:Yes, ND probably has more "reach" than the schools you mentioned, especially in NYC, but the way I look at it is, if you want to work in Boston, you are better at BC/BU, NYC? Boston native here. Do not go to any of those schools at sticker if you want Boston. If you can get into WUSTL, Emory, ND, then you can get into other east coast schools with better placement for that region.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
