Finally went complete as of this morning! How long has it generally taken people to get a decision via status checker after their app goes complete?

I went complete on 9/13 and nada. tyler.durden went complete the same day (per LSN) and got in this morning. And a lot of admits went complete around mid-October.

So it kinda varies.

Yeah thats right, it seems almost random as to when submitted and numbers, it's been all over the place. I think the only consistency is that that decisions are posted sometime between 0600-0700 EST on Tuesdays.

For what it's worth: I applied last cycle and was WL. I am below both 25th. I reapplied early this cycle with a strong Why Michigan and was accepted last week. So, I obviously strongly support a Why Mich, but as others have said, especially if you need to fill a gap in your application somewhere.

Status changed to admitted on Nov 14, received package in mail Nov 19. Very nice letter with handwritten remarks.

Submitting early is probably going to benefit you a lot more than writing a "Why Michigan" essay. Also, you could always email them later with an additional essay if you still think you should write one. On the other hand, if Michigan really is at the top of your list, you should probably be able to write a decent essay.

I'm a little late here, but this is TCR. I submitted my app without the "Why Mich?" and emailed it to the admissions office later. I had the same problem with my essay sounding like I was just regurgitating website info with my first few drafts, but once I had it written the way I wanted it, emailing it in was super easy. Admissions wrote back within an hour or so confirming that they would add it to my file.

I'm just going to hope Michigan follows last week's example and sends out another batch of acceptances tomorrow, to wish us all a very happy thanksgiving. And when that doesn't happen, I'll switch to hoping they'll start a new trend of daily acceptances, so they can just accept all of us already.

Nope, I don't think so. I hadn't gotten my status checker yet when I sent mine in, but they told me I was already complete and ready for review when they received my Why Mich. It clearly wasn't a problem since they also said they would add the essay to my file.
