Does anyone know what's the best way to commute from Bellevue to SU?

Are you asking about the best route to take, or the best method of transportation? Also, it will depend on where in Bellevue you are, and how you feel about paying tolls.lawlaw87 wrote:Does anyone know what's the best way to commute from Bellevue to SU?
There are two freeways that cross Lake Washington and head into Seattle (I-90 & SR520). I-90 is more heavily used, but it can also handle more traffic as it is 3 lanes (plus 3 express lanes during peak commute times) and there are no tolls, yet. It is just south of Bellevue, so if you were in the Crossroads/Eastgate/Factoria area it is perfect. SR520 now has tolls ($5 during peak commute) and it is on the North side of Bellevue.
Personally, I would stick with I-90 for the simple reason that an additional $10 per day in tolls, on top of everything else is ridiculous.
If you are asking about method of transportation, unfortunately, you only have the bus. Best way to get route info is to look up "Sound Transit" and search for trip planner. My only recommendation would be to commute from a Park & Ride and not from your home. It will significantly reduce the travel time.

Re: Seattle University c/o 2015
Thank you so much for the great info. I was thinking of taking the bus to save on gas and parking money. I live on 148th St. which is very close to crossroad, so I was thinking to drive to south kirkland park & ride and take the bus from there. But I wasn't sure if there is a bus that goes straight to SU, and I wasn't able to find out through "sound transit trip planner". Any help would be great:)clarsen wrote:Are you asking about the best route to take, or the best method of transportation? I would agree with clarsen's assessment of our transportation situation here. I'm still trying to figure out whether I will live at home with my parents in Bellevue (for free) or try to live somewhere close to SU (and pay a fortune to do so). Ugh...both have upsides and tremendous downsides.

same exact situation here! I graduated from UW, so I used to drive to south kirkland P&R and take 540 express bus that went straight to UW (about 20mins) it was very easy. But for SU I guess I have to change 2 buses and then walk about 10 mins to get to school (about 55 mins). I was thinking of driving to school but parking permits are $280 per semester! Another option would be carpooling, and the parking permit for carpoolers is $130. I'm not sure what to do...RaleighStClair wrote:Lawlaw:

Hi there. I went complete on 01/16. When did your app go into ARC review?

Yea SU is my number one choice. I have a job that's willing to be flexible w/ my work schedule, so staying in Seattle is what I'd prefer. Thanks for the congrats all. For those trying to anticipate when they'll hear a decision, I went complete 1/16, absolutely no news until yesterday 3/13, when I received an email and status checker status changed late in the afternoon. I'm nervously anticipating the financial aid packet . . . I sincerely hope I'm not paying full sticker. It's not like I'm one of those as*holes with rich parents. Admittedly I'm slightly disappointed no to be part of a typically haute bourgeoisie, anodyne family.

Re: Seattle University c/o 2015
Hello,
First time posting on TLS. Just got accepted via status checker, but I have a question: I applied for the full time program starting in Fall, but the application status checker has me admitted for the Summer part-time term. Is this normal or am I still waiting to hear back regarding full-time status?
Thanks!

I would call SU and verify this information. If you are admitted to the ARC program, you will be required to start in the summer, otherwise they can easily switch you to the fall. If you have the option to start in the summer, I would definitely suggest you go back through this thread and read some of the discussion about fall vs. summer start.
