Or, by definition, half the class.
From what i understand the people who fall below medians either have URMs status or are splitters who make up for it by being at or above another median. Falling below BOTH medians as a non-URM I would agree is pretty rare.
A non-URM friend of mine got in to NYU last year with numbers below their 25 percentiles. His only good soft was a humanities PhD, although he probably had a great PS. He also got accepted to a couple of other schools at which he was below the medians.
Of course, these are all anecdotes, but it does happen.

God... this just got really difficult.
After visiting W&M last week, I fell in love with Williamsburg, the school, and Dean Shealy.
I also am deeply in love with Mich and Dean Zearfoss. (Although I've never visited A2)
Now that I'm accepted to both (in at W&M via status checker)
I don't know what the F to do.
Yes, clearly Mich is the better option to TLS'ers but sometimes there's a lot more that goes into a decision like this. Employment prospects for my spouse, for example. So I'm in a conundrum that I hope to be out of real soon.

Your profile seems to indicate that you've already made a decision, JoeMo.

For the most part. I'd say that's the most likely scenario. I also just got around to withdrawing applications today so it was a complete shock to see that W&M acceptance which I didn't expect to see and that throws a curveball in there. Admittedly, I will still probably go to Michigan but it's not good for my mental health to have this nice little surprise thrown in there.

You got two fine deans waiting to please you. Go with both, it's the best of both worlds. Just make sure they don't get wise to your playing. If they start making accusations say it wasn't you. I'm seeing three different schools next year.
Back on topic. I'm not sure employment for your spouse would be much different at either place. Unless I was offered a substantial scholarship at W&M (full tuition with no stips) I'd be putting in for Wolverine tickets.

Ann Arbor is my second home and I can assure you it is one hell of a place. I would highly recommend visiting before you make the call.

I submitted a few days after you. Did your status checker change this week? On Monday mine changed to "Complete/Will send decision by April 1."

This made me LOL.
Thanks for the solid advice on the employment. I really don't know anything about the Norfolk (Hampton Roads) market vs. Detroit market and wasn't doing comparative research until now.
And yes, I'm definitely going to wait and see what happens scholly wise with W&M but didn't want to sound greedy by coming out and saying "if they don't give me a full scholly I'm going to Michigan" but full or close to full is pretty much what I need.

FWIW I got in around a week after my status changed to the will send decision by April 1. I applied around Nov. 11th.

I have a status checker yet under the "status" tab, yet I don't have any space in which the status of my application appears. All of my other status checkers have "Application Received" or "Complete" etc... but not this one. Am I blind or looking in the wrong place? Sorry if this is a silly question...
BTW, Congrats to all who have been accepted.

It will change to complete when it goes complete. Before then you won't see anything.
