Was placed on priority reserve... Do we priority reserve applicants even stand a chance?

Absolutely! You will get in with the RD candidates a little later. Wait about 6 weeks and then watch the green dots start to fall off. Tons of the people that got in Priority Track have since received large scholarships at UVa or Harvard interviews or admission to Michigan. These are just the first of the T-10 to start rolling out RD decisions, but it will continue and have a roll-on effect on admissions at other schools. Not that everyone will choose to attend elsewhere, but of course, a lot will have different preferences. Scholarship decisions in Jan will have the same effect as some people receive better offers or what not.shbe0701 wrote:Was placed on priority reserve... It's day 10 for me and file still under review. When did other PT people get their email? Morning, middle of the day?

damn...if they're taking so long for me, does it mean I'm just waiting for a rejection email?curiousgeorgia wrote:My status changed to "decision made; watch for e-mail" around 3 p.m. of day 9, got an e-mail around 8:30 a.m. the next day (10).zoohoo wrote:It's day 10 for me and file still under review. With your numbers, I doubt it. Are you counting from date submitted or date complete?zoohoo wrote:

You'll probably get an acceptance tonight, and if not, tomorrow morning. Considering it takes LSAC 3 weeks to give us back scores on a Scantron test, I still think it's pretty impressive that Duke can make all of these admissions decisions in a 10-day time limit that includes weekends.zoohoo wrote: I'm counting from date complete (10/31).

Well I would say the worst case scenario is that you get priority deferred, in which case a nice LOCI would ensure your in. Good luck!zoohoo wrote:Very true. Congrats to all of you that were admitted yesterday PT. I saw some very impressive numbers. Not surprised.

I was complete as of 10/31 and did the Priority Track. My acceptance was really a pleasant surprise with my numbers, but now I see the impact of my softs. Being that this the first decision to come back, I'm much more optimistic about my other T14 applications than I was yesterday. Are you properly analyzing your chances? I looked at your list of schools, and I think you have some pretty good options if your profile is correct - are you AA male? You can't predict those cycles very well and you really never know where your ceiling might be....HopevHistory wrote:I was complete as of 10/31 and did the Priority Track. Worried my lack of oversight here will hurt my chances, even though the essay is strong.
And..regarding the UVA essay comment.. UVA is a weird one. I think it's technically U.Va. but people abbreviate different ways from what I hear
Congrats to those who got in! I am RD so will be awhile I'm guessing
FWIW I wrote Duke Law as well and got in yesterday, so I don't think this is a big deal. I know it's hard not to worry about little things like this, but I'm sure if your essay is strong, they'll overlook little things like this. GL to everyone still waiting!

Re: Duke c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I can't imagine writing "Duke Law" would be an issue at all - consistently referring to Duke as "Duke University School of Law" would be terribly annoying to the reader. Indeed, I think they'd prefer that we shorten the name somehow. My concern was the fact that I botched the formal name of the law school (in other places I simply called it "Duke" or "Duke Law"). I'm not too concerned about it all.so_fetch wrote:This post just made me paranoid and I checked my "why duke." I just wrote Duke Law. Is that bad?!! Regarding UVA, I didn't call it "UVA" in the essay. What I meant was that I also called it "University of Virginia Law School" when it's actually "University of Virginia School of Law".

I thought the same thing. I didn't get my acceptance until 6:30 pm EST on the 10th calendar after completion. Don't put too much stock into how early/late in the day you get your email. Best of luck to everyone waiting today.zoohoo wrote:damn...if they're taking so long for me, does it mean I'm just waiting for a rejection email?curiousgeorgia wrote:My status changed to "decision made; watch for e-mail" around 3 p.m. of day 9, got an e-mail around 8:30 a.m. the next day (10).zoohoo wrote:It's day 10 for me and file still under review. Re: Duke c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
AA male, 20yr. old senior: I put a great deal of consideration into my choices and my selections were based on a balance of location, ranking, and culture. Columbia is my real ideal, but any T14 on my list (Duke, Chicago, UPenn, or UVA) would be beautiful. Others like Hofstra, Temple, Michigan State, etc are so I have scholarship options. HYS are within a reaching stretch, but they are not at the top of my list like most candidates. Every law school on my list is a place where I will be happy AND successful because I've learned that rankings, numbers, and admissions only goes so far, but there are three real years of life to live. I truly do appreciate the input/insight, though. ThanksMumofCad wrote:Are you properly analyzing your chances? For any Priority Reserve out there:
I was placed on PR from my PT application, and now I am accepted at UVA with 90k and in at Cornell. Don't lose hope just from one decision!

They send out separate scholarship applications in December that you can apply for if you're still interested, it doesn't come with the acceptance. (Well, at least it didn't for me)AS33 wrote:Did anyone get accepted on Duke PT with a scholarship?
