At this point I'm nearly certain I'll be at the U in the fall. Just waiting on a few other financial aid offers.

Thinking of living in uptown with some friends at the med school. For other people who are considering attending, where do you think you'll live?

EDIT: I'll be at the april ASW too.

Has anyone been successful negotiating scholarships with minnesota?

I would love to accept the offer, but the tuition is so high.

I didn't realize how rapidly the tuition has increased until I did a little more research. Made me really jealous of students a couple years ago

(Although there is a chance they wouldn't have offered as much scholly $$$ in those days).

In with $20,000/year scholarship. I wondering when I try to negotiate more. I've gotten into higher ranked schools, including several t14 but haven't heard any mention of scholarships yet. Can I use those acceptances to leverage more money now or should I wait to see if I get a similar offer from a higher ranked school?

Tell me about it. At one point not too long ago, tuition was 32 grand for non-residents. It's over 46 now!

I really feel like I'm out then with my numbers...3.31/155/AA male. I hope my essay touched them but their YP is really discouraging me.

This thread talks about Minn / YP a lot, but if you look at LSN it doesn't appear to do it THAT much (maybe like 4 or 5 people have been)

It looks like it only happened a couple of times, and there are admits with amazing numbers. It appears if you show minimal interest at any level they won't YP (based on the small amount of people who have been)

Based on how URM cycle seems to be going for U of M I'd predict a WL or admit (be pretty surprised if out right rejected)... no clue on how likely it is to get off Minn WL

I really hope that I at least get a WL. I have already started studying to take the LSAT again in June for the next cycle if this one doesn't go the way I want it. U of M is really my first choice so I'm hoping against hope.

Same boat exactly--same numbers, already in at Duke, just got the WL e-mail although I didn't write much about Why Minnesota. I definitely feel like it's a YP, not that I'm offended; I never would have applied were it not for the fee waiver. I withdrew almost immediately.

Hopefully they waitlisted us so they could offer seats to people who weren't just going to go to Duke. Congrats to the people who got in!

166/3.9, but it actually looks like people with significantly higher LSATs also got W/L'ed, so...rough cycle?

That's definitely yp... I'm surprised with you adressing it in ps (just made hypothesis that could avoid yp by this)

Significantly higher were because of yp probably. Yours might be because they're currently doing well on keeping the 3.8 median but not the 167 median.

Us news needs to start using LSAT / gpa mean or something to get rid of this 1 pt below LSAT median non-sense
