Seems like nearly everyone in this thread has a full ride to St. John's....makes me a little nervous!

Wow, you guys are lucky with those lenient stips. I'm jealous I didn't get that. The truth is though, if I am out of the top 40% after 1L, I would probably want to drop out anyway. Or maybe I am just trying to make myself feel better. Ha.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but this is the breakdown of who actually keeps their scholarships after 1L at St. John's. Last year only 58% kept theirs, and that was at top 50% instead of top 40% they are doing now for you guys. I'm guessing that includes the minority scholarships that don't require a certain gpa to be renewed. I just finished 1L and I feel very fortunate that it looks like I will be keeping mine, when so many of the friends I have made won't. A lot of people planned to drop out if they lost their scholarship, but after you've spent a year of your life on something it is a lot harder to make that decision then it seems like as a 0L. I know I would have stayed here if I had lost mine, even though I never would have gone to St. John's for full price to begin with.

Sunday, August 14 Orientation for entering evening students
Monday, August 15 Fall semester begins for entering students, University holiday
(Law School Orientation and Introduction to Law scheduled)
Saturday, August 20 Fall semester begins for continuing students
Saturday, August 27 Drop/Add deadline. After this date, approval from Dean Cunningham is required.
Monday, August 29 Entering students begin all other 1L courses
What do we do between 8/14 and 8/29, if we don't start our classes until the 29th? Is orientation and Intro to Law for those whole two weeks?

Yes, Intro to Law is 2 weeks. You are split into your sections already and only have the Intro to Law class for those two weeks.pookie wrote:Sunday, August 14 Orientation for entering evening students

Yes, and please don't freak out about Intro to Law! Some people were actually studying for it and stuff, even though it was pass/fail. Spend that time getting to know people!pookie wrote:Sunday, August 14 Orientation for entering evening students

You have to log onto UIS, and then under the student tab there is a link to schedules

Re: St. John's 2011 Cycle
Just for everyone's info, I got in touch with the school to ask about why my UIS account still says "You are not currently registered for this term" and they told me that all of the accounts will be updated by Wednesday at the latest. So if you are wondering why you don't have your section information yet, don't panic. It will be up there soon.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
