I'm in that situation. TX Wes gave me a decent offer (STCL hasn't made a $ offer). STCL is probably more respected and will get you a higher paying job, but who knows.abcd wrote:I got into Wesleyan and STCL but am really confused where I should go? What do you guys think?

This is a good question. I called on Friday and was told that mine hasnt even been reviewed yet, which leads me to believe that they do actually review randomly. Complete since 1/12. But, lsn shows tons of people getting in in march and april.merc280 wrote:isn't it more likely that we haven't received a decision yet because its most likely a rejection? or is it likely that they have yet to get to my application since my app is still in the complete phase?

ya i dont really understand what they gain from dragging peoples apps out who will be rejected. So if they had a feeling they were going to reject us and thats why they have not responded yet that is epic messed up. My guess is simply they just havent gotten around to us yetdoubleL wrote:This is a good question. Relax, I think if they wanted to reject you, it would be an easier-quicker decision to make...right? I'm sure since they don't go in order, they are just going through them and you guys haven't been finalized yet.
On another note, does anyone see an impact of the new rankings?
UT is "T14" or whatever the correct number is now (basically it broke into the elite group). SMU > Baylor > Houston >Tech ---Then "unranked", also considered the 'worst/bottom' 45 schools in the nation= STCL, TX Wes, St. Mary's, TSU...
I think it is a major change that tech now has a number with it, and we are now separated even more from many schools.

Can you post a link to the new rankings? There are numerous lists out there, so I want to make sure I am on the same page as everyone else.

Yet career prospects are still better for this "unranked" school than #117 Tech.txadv11 wrote:Relax, I think if they wanted to reject you, it would be an easier-quicker decision to make...right? I hope you are right in coming years. I guess now it is just weird to think only the bottom 25% are unranked, and if you look what schools are 'equal' with STCL it will disgust you. Yeah, I'm with you there, it's a little worrisome, and I can't fathom how STCL can be considered on the same level as Cooley, etc.txadv11 wrote:I hope you are right in coming years. Ed: Also, according to my favorite website nalpdirectory.com, Tech has 23 firms that do OCI, STCL has 36.

Florida Costal, Liberty, Regent, Nova Southeastern, Phoenix, Southern, Ave Maria, Barry, California Western and on and on and on. God, for YEARS now I was OK with the idea of going to a lower ranked school and now like two weeks before money is due to most schools, I am questioning everything. Tulsa is ranked #110 (even above tech), and gave me a decent scholarship... but does that mean I'd have a better quality of life/job prospect than STCL? I'm partial to Texas, but if we are talking potentially 60 or 70 spots better, and 50-75K less in debt...jacketman03 wrote:Yeah, I'm with you there, it's a little worrisome, and I can't fathom how STCL can be considered on the same level as Cooley, etc.txadv11 wrote:I hope you are right in coming years. Baylor has 46.9% employment from this new data... what would that mean for...

If you have specific Tulsa questions about quality of life, I can answer those, fwiw. I think job prospects would be about the same, but they'd all be in Tulsa.txadv11 wrote:Florida Costal, Liberty, Regent, Nova Southeastern, Phoenix, Southern, Ave Maria, Barry, California Western and on and on and on. I'm hanging my hat on the oldest law school in Houston with a great reputation in the 4th largest city in the nation.txadv11 wrote:Florida Costal, Liberty, Regent, Nova Southeastern, Phoenix, Southern, Ave Maria, Barry, California Western and on and on and on. Who'd have a better placement in DFW, STCL or Tulsa? I'm also going on a visit at the end of the month, anything specific I should ask or see?
