I put in applications to W&M and Maryland, but they're not serious considerations. UNC's far and away my first choice: I'm a resident (in-state public education FTW), I'm a grad student here now, and I've already developed relationships with both current students and a few professors that put it over the top for me.LEPinBOS wrote:Where else did you apply?borntorun86 wrote:Speaking as a North Carolina resident, I never even bothered applying to Wake. And yes, I'm biased.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The only strike against me is that I'm a bit of a splitter (165/3.24) due to being an idiot my first semester in undergrad and deciding to get a "hard science" degree (damn you, chemistry!). I just want the waiting to be over.LEPinBOS wrote: i think i read somewhere that you are a grad student working on your master's thesis at unc. i think.![]()

OMFG. EVER. I'm going to have to run a little bit this week to get ready for a possible sprint from the Dean Dome to Franklin St. On second thought, I'm just going to bike it.Capitalist wrote: The Heels handle FSU by double-digits + A victory over Duke on Saturday night, clinching the regular season title + an acceptance from UNC = the greatest week EVER.

The sprint from Bob's to Franklin is a lot shorter. Just a thought...

Nope. I don't expect to hear until Friday, Thursday at the earliest. If we heard by Thursday that'd be fantastic. Trying not to get too freaked out about it, though I've run my interview through my head about 8,000 times. Sometimes I reflect and think I spoke well, sometimes I want to slap my hand to my face. Only time will tell.agora139 wrote:have any chancellor's scholars heard decisions yet??

Yeah, but I'm not turning down a free duke-carolina student ticket (which, incidentally, I should find out today or tomorrow about).jackattack17 wrote:and bob's has beerTyrodTaylor wrote:The sprint from Bob's to Franklin is a lot shorter. Just a thought...

Love Bob's, especially in the summer on the patio. I'm a little stitious, though, and my spot to watch Carolina's games is Spanky's, where I've never seen the Tar Heels lose. Least favorite spot: Top of the Hill, where I'm 0-2.agora139 wrote:bob's = the bestttt
If you've never been, another great place to watch tar heel games is IP3's.

Regarding the Wake/UNC debate a page or two ago, there's new NLJ statistics to show they're not far apart for BigLaw placement:

I'm not under consideration for a scholarship, but that hasn't stopped me from developing a pavlovian response to the "new email" notification on my phone. I think I need professional help.beccabea wrote:Au contraire, States said during the Q&A session that it would be today or tomorrow, and he responded this morning to something I'd sent him saying "We'll be in contact shortly." To me, "shortly" means today. Because if it weren't supposed to mean today, then he'd have said "We'll be in contact this week" or something like that. So basically I've had my email up all day and my phone right next to me...innernetp wrote:Nope. I don't expect to hear until Friday, Thursday at the earliest. Submitted my app Friday. Figured there's no need to rush since my only reportable LSAT score is from the Feb. test. Good luck to you all!

You're right that first he said Wednesday, but then he corrected himself and said "towards the end of the week." But shortly DOES seem to mean sooner than Friday. Who knows! Only Dean States & company.beccabea wrote:Au contraire, States said during the Q&A session that it would be today or tomorrow, and he responded this morning to something I'd sent him saying "We'll be in contact shortly." 12/17 for me. Fortunately, we can rest easy knowing that the deadline for applying has passed & they can get down to admitting folks now!nillumin wrote:weird, alright. Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
My roommate is a 2L and I asked him this too. He got 5k his first year and 10k his second (but the increase was based on his good grades in 1L). Of his friends, he only knew of several people getting 5k and maybe one or two full scholarships. That's not to say there isn't anything in between 5k and full, just passing along info.PDL wrote:Anyone have any info on how generous UNC is with scholarships to non-Chancellor's?
He maybe named 7-10 of his friends he knew of getting 5k which is out of a class of 250 or so. Sounds like a little but 5k is about 1/3 instate tuition. Of course, here's hoping for more...

Check LSN: Historically, unless you have ridiculous numbers (i.e. auto admit at T14 or even T6 Acceptance #'s) or are a URM w/ around median numbers, it doesn't look like they give out schollys.PDL wrote:Anyone have any info on how generous UNC is with scholarships to non-Chancellor's?
