I doubt that's the case. My guess is that we were held later, so they pushed back the date to give themselves more time. I didn't get my letter until April 1st.Jericwithers wrote:As a hold I will hear back by the 21st (less than 2 weeks woo). What is this talk of a 27th deadline? ditto over here -- they really didn't give a ton of time to get that LOCI in.worldwithoutend wrote:I doubt that's the case. Anyone wanna take a guess when the wave of held decisions will come out? Looking at the 08 and 09 threads it appeared that the admits came on Thursday with waitlists on Friday.

Re: Columbia 2010
Got my "reserve list" notification (that phrase always makes me emit a wry and bitter laugh) on Feb. 21, and after waiting around for almost two months, my law school choices are now between American University and Columbia... I'm interested in international law, so both schools have fabulous programs, but I'd go to Columbia if admitted despite my scholarship at AU. However, my numbers are crap. I'm a 165/4.0 with a very artsy resume. I looked at the thread for last year, and I'm feeling pretty hopeless about getting in at Columbia. Any thoughts? Any ideas on what would help my chances or is it just up to the admissions gods at this point?

But seriously, you probably have a shot with that GPA.

Columbia rejected me today (via snail mail) after confirming my withdrawal (via email) six days ago. I withdrew in February.

Sigh. Anyone else here who has given up hope but just wants to know why they didn't get in? I think I would feel a lot better if I knew why.

Did you already find out? I'm an EDer, and the admissions office told me I may not find out until after April.BaiAilian2013 wrote:Sigh. Anyone else here who has given up hope but just wants to know why they didn't get in? I think I would feel a lot better if I knew why.

No, I'm in the 'you'll hear by 4/21' batch. But realistically, they've had my application for seven months now (and my LOCI for two), and it's not like my numbers are so borderline that they'd have to wait till the very end to see if they could afford to take me... so I'm pretty sure I'm boned. I just wish I knew what it was that turned them off. My numbers twin on LSN got a Butler.Jacinda wrote:Did you already find out? Re: Columbia 2010
I think when they said wait, it means they're going through all the apps on hold again. Yours could just be at the bottom because you applied early. I know I sent them at least 20 pages to read. So I wouldn't sweat it out until April 21st because then you know they're snail mailing you something, which means either a ding or waitlist.BaiAilian2013 wrote:No, I'm in the 'you'll hear by 4/21' batch. if you are international, that could be the difference, they may have already filled up their quota of whatever country you are a citizen of, and please don't tell me law schools don't have quotas for foreign students

I'm kinda wondering same thing for Columbia and Chicago, too.BaiAilian2013 wrote:No, I'm in the 'you'll hear by 4/21' batch. I don't have Butler numbers, but I have a decent GPA and above-median LSAT. I'm thinking that CC were turned off by my no-name undergrad or the fact that I had a prior LSAT score, because that's better than them just not liking me.

Re: Columbia 2010
Does anybody know, based on previous years, whether ED deferred people receive emails or letters? From my understanding, people who were held were later notified of the decision by snail mail if rejected and email if accepted. Are deferred people the same?
Also, I noticed that deferred people occasionally post on this thread, but not too much. Have most of us given up, or is there still reason to have hope?
The anxiety is beginning to get to me...

I keep forgetting to follow this thread and CLS movement. If I miraculously get in I will challenge anyone on TLS to a "craziest thing to happen in a cycle" competition.

Re: Columbia 2010
I was looking at 2007 and 2008 threads, and it seems that, in those years, Columbia accepted quite a few people who had been deferred. I couldn't find information from more recent years, but it seems to me, based on previous remarks that I read in this thread months ago, that people are not expecting CLS to accept many, if any, deferred people. Any thoughts?
