Hello! Did everyone who submitted a LOCI in the last week or so get a confirmation? I submitted mine on Monday and haven't heard anything back. Thanks!

Jesus. How long can it take to reject someone? This is like my style of breakup. Just ignore until the other person leaves.

I submitted an LOCI in early March by mail and never got confirmation.tarheel wrote:Hello! Did everyone who submitted a LOCI in the last week or so get a confirmation? I submitted mine on Monday and haven't heard anything back. Thanks!
Last week I emailed a pdf of the letter saying "just making sure you guys know i'm REALLY really interested" and got an email response an hour later that the letter had been added to my file.

I enrolled at NYU to meet their scholarship deadline, and NYU requires you to withdraw from your other current acceptances when you enroll.Hattori Hanzo wrote:Why?!BenJ wrote:Withdrew just now. Good luck, everyone!

I submitted a LOCI after visiting in February. Then when I got the e-mail inviting me to submit a LOCI, I re-sent it in case the first one had been lost in the postal mail. I got no confirmation; I wonder if I should be worried?runnerman wrote:I submitted an LOCI in early March by mail and never got confirmation.tarheel wrote:Hello! The e-mail actually said that they would be unable to confirm receipt- I think, for the most part, people that sent in an additional letter didn't get any acknowledgment. I'm sure you can call & double check if you're concerned though.neimanmarxist wrote:I submitted a LOCI after visiting in February. Yes, I saw that about being unable to confirm. But that someone else got confirmation subsidizes my paranoia, you see.
I won't call, I'm sure it's fine. It's just three more weeks of angst. I can handle that. It's been a whole year of angst already, after all!

Re: Columbia 2010
Just to clarify, I emailed my LOCI before the solicitation/invitation to submit them. So if the admissions email said they would be unable to confirm receipt and you resent yours by email after that invitation, I would assume they received it and not follow up. My two cents.jlk86 wrote:The e-mail actually said that they would be unable to confirm receipt- I think, for the most part, people that sent in an additional letter didn't get any acknowledgment. Did it just come down to $30K vs. $45K?BenJ wrote:I enrolled at NYU to meet their scholarship deadline, and NYU requires you to withdraw from your other current acceptances when you enroll.Hattori Hanzo wrote:Why?!BenJ wrote:Withdrew just now. Good luck, everyone!

That plus opportunities in environmental law (more at NYU) and general feel of the student body (which admittedly is fuzzy and subjective). I'd still take Stanford over NYU, I think, if they let me in.

Re: Columbia 2010
Seems like most decisions have been snail mailed, including acceptances (VCE).
But from looking at last year's hold threads, looks like they were all emailed the .pdf

Re: Columbia 2010
This is my first post. Sorry if I'm asking a repeat question or something annoying like that.
I was put on hold at Columbia like some of you. I want to submit my LOCI and resume, but I'm not sure how they want me to do it. There was an email address in the letter, but it was after "If you no longer wish to be considered, please contact..." How did you submit your additional material - fax? email?
Thanks!

So we all agree... that unsolicited LOCI's are a "no-no"
I really want to send one, since I have been waiting without any kind of update for months.
But I am nervous that it will screw me over.

I think you should have gotten an email about an April 7th deadline to submit that stuff.laurenah wrote:This is my first post. Sorry if I'm asking a repeat question or something annoying like that.

Does that mean you got held/WL/reject, or are acceptances now coming in non-VCE's?

VCE means Vomit Colored Envelope. This is a reference to the putrescent green color of the envelopes from Columbia that contain acceptances.clintonius wrote:Indulge my ignorance: what does non-VCE mean?

I'm sorry to hear that. Best of luck with the rest of your applications!pertristis wrote:It was a lovely beige rejection envelope.Z3RO wrote:Sorry, but indulge my neuroses:pertristis wrote:Received a non-VCE today. Good luck to everyone still waiting.
