160, 3.7, OOS, non urm
I can't see my numbers being competitive for scholarships, but was still surprised by the fast response.
Me too. In review on the 23rd, in on the 25th. I was shocked.

Woot, FINALLY under review today. I've been "complete" since Jan. 8th. They must update their statuses late...I checked late this afternoon and I was still listed as complete.

I haven't seen anything about a travel stipend.
I actually emailed them because I became curious when you brought it up. Admissions referred me to a Mr. R. Jay Shively, Assistant Dean of
Admissions and Financial Aid, who apparently reviews individual cases and awards possible assistance for travel based on that. I sent him an email explaining that I was accepted and that I will be traveling to University Park for the open house, along with the estimated cost of my trip. I haven't heard back yet, but I will let everyone know when I do.

He actually responded in less that 20 minutes and said that after I attend Open House I can present my receipts to the financial aid office and be reimbursed up to $300. Nice!

The acceptance e-mail said the packet would be mailed out sometime this week, so I'm not even sure if they went out yet.

Pj and Tracylynn: did y'all get the email regarding financial aid today? I got one talking about merit scolarships and fafsa but it didn't say anywhere that I had gotten a scholarship, I'm wondering if this was just a generic email or if I didn't get any scholly at all.
Thanks for the info

For those of you on the waitlist with me, did you get a sense that we will eventually be accepted or am I reading too much into the text?

I sorta got that impression. I'm not even considering going anymore, and I really should just withdraw. I've been extremely disappointed with the way Penn State has been handling this entire admissions process, and I have better schools on my radar now. I think they're going to get screwed by trying to handpick a class of overqualified applicants. But hey, what do I know.

Yup I did. I think it's just a generic email. Technically their deadline for applying for Fin Aid was yesterday, so I think they're just sending out a reminder to everyone. Note to all: Include your parent's info on the FAFSA! I already submitted mine, THEN saw the requirement to include parental info on the supplemental application for Penn State. Now I've got to wait for it to be processed to submit a corrected version....oh joy.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
