UVA's schizophrenic admission process has turned me off for the school. We're all standing in line, and Faulk keeps letting URMs and residents cut ahead. Pardon my French, but that's bull-ish.

According to LSN data, a large proportion of those who have already been dmitted are VA residents.

It's been noted that some adcoms do occasionally peruse these pages, so you might want to watch yourself a bit. Just a friendly piece of advice!godsaveme wrote:UVA's schizophrenic admission process has turned me off for the school. I think I read somewhere that 40% of the matriculating class is in-state?laolbjob wrote:Yeah, according to LSN data, a large proportion of those who admitted are VA residents.

Re: UVA 2010, RD
I started to have some mini-panic tonight about not getting into UVA. It's become a top choice...but all of those admitted this far with my numbers (or lower) have been in-state or ED.
Then I remember that it is just November. And then I look at last cycle's LSN profiles to see some applicants (non-URMs like me) with worse numbers getting scholarship $ thrown at them...even if they applied in January.
But this does little to assuage my anxiety. Holy shit I want into UVA. Great weather, great town, great COL, and incredible reputation.
Fingers crossed for all in this thread!

Re: UVA 2010, RD
What is frightening about last year's LSN for UVA is the size of the WL spread. Though I'm sure there is some rhyme and reason to it on their end...it seems that very few people could have felt assured that they were getting in (outside of ED and perhaps in-staters with certain #'s).Tangerine Gleam wrote:I started to have some mini-panic tonight about not getting into UVA. aren't waitlists like a soft rejection at uva?

I dont think a waitlist is a soft reject. All of the YPs can get off the waitlist if they write LOCI and I think they pull people from their waitlist

I would feel much less confident on a UVA WL than most other schools.avacado111 wrote:aren't waitlists like a soft rejection at uva?

This is probably true. I guess it depends on why you were WL'ed. Still wouldn't feel comfortable.0L Hoping for 1 wrote:I dont think a waitlist is a soft reject. All of the YPs can get off the waitlist if they write LOCI and I think they pull people from their waitlist

That is true because they over enrolled. But I still think some YPs got off the waitlist who wanted off, I might be wrong thoughavacado111 wrote:well no one got off the waitlist last year and the year before except maybe 1-2 people.0L Hoping for 1 wrote:I dont think a waitlist is a soft reject. Sorry if it's already been adressed, but traditionally, how's about UVA's thanksgiving policy? I mean, will the adcomms issue a fairly large batch of acceptances just before the vacation?

Maybe, but I doubt it. I was in September and haven't heard anything from UM or UVA. Did hear from Duke though.irie wrote:im positive that im the only person on this planet who applied in early september and has "admit" numbers at duke, uva, and michigan but have not heard a peep from any of them.

Did either of you write PS's about your leadership experience in the KKK or how Mein Kampf inspired you to become a lawyer?TruckerD wrote:Nope, you're not the only one. Actually, it was about the Komintern, and the interrogators in Darkness at Noon inspired me to become a lawyer.wackjickham wrote:Did either of you write PS's about your leadership experience in the KKK or how Mein Kampf inspired you to become a lawyer?TruckerD wrote:Nope, you're not the only one.
