I'd be ecstatic to attend Stanford, but I think the small chance that I had of getting in was completely destroyed by my study abroad institution which is taking weeks to submit my transcript smh.katthegreat11 wrote:Guys, my c/o 2020 thread is so lonelyare no other admits thinking about going to SLS?

Same here, it took my study abroad university a full month to get my transcript to them...nimbus cloud wrote:I'd be ecstatic to attend Stanford, but I think the small chance that I had of getting in was completely destroyed by my study abroad institution which is taking weeks to submit my transcript smh.katthegreat11 wrote:Guys, my c/o 2020 thread is so lonelyare no other admits thinking about going to SLS?

It's my top choice right now, but I haven't heard back from H and Y. Every day that goes by I get closer to living in Palo Alto though!katthegreat11 wrote:Guys, my c/o 2020 thread is so lonelyare no other admits thinking about going to SLS?

I'm thinking about sending an LOCI - how will I know if it's received? Does the Admissions office respond?

If I were to submit a LOCI, a) is that a good idea -- I've been submitted for review since Nov. 8 -- and b) how do I actually go about submitting it? Email vs. snail mail, addressed to whom, etc?

Some people have been suggesting to do it, but I would say don't unless you're waitlisted. Seems a little desperate and I don't think Stanford has the same concerns about LOCI as do lower and mid T14 who are concerned about YP. If you really wanted to make an impression and communicate interest, I would suggest visiting the campus and trying to get some time with an administrator.criley01 wrote:If I were to submit a LOCI, a) is that a good idea -- I've been submitted for review since Nov. 8 -- and b) how do I actually go about submitting it? FWIW I've been complete and under review since early September and not heard a peep.

Faye Deal, in her blog, practically recommended sending an additional piece of info to the ad-comms if you haven't heard back two months after going under review. That could be a new LoR, a resume update, or an LoCI.unrelated wrote:Some people have been suggesting to do it, but I would say don't unless you're waitlisted. Looks like I'm about to do this for the five schools I applied to back in September..RictusErectus wrote:Faye Deal, in her blog, practically recommended sending an additional piece of info to the ad-comms if you haven't heard back two months after going under review. Don't wait too long! I submitted a LOCI and received my rejection letter about six days later. Not that it would have mattered, but I'm pretty positive they'd already decided before my letter reached them.

The only thing I could find on this was a reply to a comment from 2011 asking if it was alright to send a LOCI, in which she says "You just need to exercise some good judgement, though, and decide how much is enough versus becoming a pain." --unless, I'm just missing a more recent/definitive blog post you're talking about?RictusErectus wrote:Faye Deal, in her blog, practically recommended sending an additional piece of info to the ad-comms if you haven't heard back two months after going under review. So I mean, I'm just some guy on the internet, don't listen to me. If you think it will help, then go for it. I just think that SLS of all places is already selective enough that if they're going to take you, a LOCI probably won't be the deciding factor. Then again, I haven't gotten a phone call yet so what do I know?

What area code are calls? I doubt I was accepted, but this is the only Cali school I applied to and I'm all the way across the country and got 2 CA calls today - no voicemail.

Has anyone visited and met with an admissions office, like the website says: "The Admissions Committee does not grant interviews as part of the admissions process. However, we encourage you to visit the school and arrange to meet with a member of the admissions staff."
I'm going to be in the Bay Area next week and am wondering if it's worth it/what the meeting is like?

My friend got admitted to SLS recently and he said there's about 180-200 people who are in the FB Group/Invited to the FB group. So it seems like they've given half their offers.

And on LSN it looks like they've reviewed up to mid-Dec completes, so they have about 2/5 more to do first review acceptances for before going back through the applications they haven't made decisions on yet.VapidP wrote:My friend got admitted to SLS recently and he said there's about 180-200 people who are in the FB Group/Invited to the FB group. I wonder if the 433 offers include offers made to people initially waitlisted.

I'm pretty much a median candidate for them numbers wise, and went complete way back in November but I've noticed some people around my completion date have already been accepted and rejected. So I'm hoping they are going through the "maybe" pile after they finished up the presumptive rejects and presumptive accepts.dhbiv wrote:Since I applied late October, I suspect I'll be WL'd; at/above both 75ths :/
