Idk what the interview schedules are like. They could be interviewing RD candidates and deciding on them later.Aquinas wrote:So to clarify, that would mean this week's batch of interview invites would be for ED applicants only, whereas RD interview invites would be going out next week?KMart wrote:This is all correct. I do believe there will be invites going out this week and next week, based on last year's spreadsheets; it should be this week for ED. But of course we never know!

I mean, you have to interview to get in but it doesn't mean you will be rejected.hoy456 wrote:...asking for a friend......i assume no interview invite means no admit, right?

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Does anyone know if Im correct in thinking that it's a bad idea to write a why Chicago?
Ive heard that it doesnt make a difference for them because they already know people want to go there because they're good.
They do mention that if you have a particularly strong interest or ties to Chicago that you can write one, but I don't know if my very strong interest in an area of law that they have that other schools don't have is a strong enough reason.
Plus my stats basically guarantee that I'll be waitlisted (lsn has it like 80-90% of applicants with my stats are waitlisted and the rest rejected) so Im probably going to write a LOCI and writing a why Chicago would use up a lot of the material I'd put in my LOCI.
Does this make sense or is it a bad idea to hold off and just write a LOCI?

To Kmart and other UCHI Students and Alumni,
1. Thank you for all your help
2. Once a 1L moves up to the city from Hyde Park (those that do), does it become overly burdensome to commute south? and how does that look like, the L, metra, uber, etc?
- Thanks!

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I would save it for the LOCI. The admissions office wasn't too keen on seeing it when I called and asked. Also as you mentioned, they said they request it from people who want to get off the waitlist, and if you write a Why X and are waitlisted, you'd have to come up with another thing to say for the LOCI anyway.LawschoolHopeful2k16 wrote:Does anyone know if Im correct in thinking that it's a bad idea to write a why Chicago?

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
In a bit of a different situation, but I'm inclined to agree - I interviewed with Columbia and Chicago having written a Why Columbia and not a Why Chicago - the 'why us?' question was much more awkward for Columbia when I felt I'd already given all my reasons, whereas I think answering that question for Chicago actually added new/valuable information to my candidacy - so if you are pretty sure about your waitlist outcome either way, seems like having some novelty to capitalize on later on might be nice.Christinabruin wrote:I would save it for the LOCI. Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Checking in here after spying for a few weeks...
I applied for ED on 11/22, Complete on 11/23, UR1 on 11/29, and UR2 on 12/13. My numbers are both <25% but applied on a whim with really strong softs in the hopes that I'll be one of the relative outliers for which Chicago seems to have a reputation. I've spent quite a bit of time on UC's campus (an ex was a PHD student there) and I love the school, so here's to hoping!

You might want to write one when you're WLed. I know in my year they asked for one (if you wanted). If you're certain of a WL, then hold off.LawschoolHopeful2k16 wrote:Does anyone know if Im correct in thinking that it's a bad idea to write a why Chicago?

Depends on where you go. Most will either have a car or take the bus (#2). I think some take the Metra but the stop isn't as close to the law school (depends on how lazy you are - I'm probably more lazy than others

If you wanted to Uber you can, but the #2 will drop you off in front of the law school and will be infinitely cheaper for only a slightly longer ride. Depending on where you are on the route, it probably takes 20-30min to get to the school.

Finally went complete today. Chicago was my last one so I was a little worried. I also logically know I won't get read until after break, but still - weight off my shoulders.

Is there a spreadsheet going around with stats/interview dates, etc.? That would be super helpful for everyone I'm sure

I went under review on November 14th and still have not been invited to interview. It seems like everyone is being invited to interview rather soon after UR so I'm not sure what to think about this.

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Hey guys so I finished Fall 2016 for my UG and I have my grades posted. Is this something I should send to the schools? or wait till my Final Transcript happens after spring 2017? I have heard mixed opinions. And if it is the case that I do send the transcripts now, does it slow down my app progress? Also, my GPA went from a 3.95 to a 3.96 does that matter at all to any school? I dont want to slow down the progress for something so minimal.
Thanks!
Thanks!
