I normally do to, but I emailed another school who didn't at all mention reimbursement and they were friendly about it! If you're accepted then it's time for them to impress you! They won't rescind the acceptance if you ask about travel expenses for a visit, I promise.killingmesoftly wrote:

For me it is.BirdLawExpert wrote:bdb90 wrote:Vanderbilt, if you accept me tomorrow I promise to attend.is it that time of year already?
5 Stages of application cycle:
1. Apply to every school in September to give the best shot of acceptance.
2. Denial/Confidence...I may just get into a couple of T14 schools
3. Depression due to wait list at UVA, Georgetown
4. Anger at not getting accepted to UVA/Georgetown, and at waiting 5 months for decisions from everywhere else
and now I'm at
5. Bargaining. Please Vanderbilt, please accept me. I'll do anything. (You too UVA, Georgetown, NW).

Interviewed on campus in the beginning of November, thought it went well, was told by my interviewer it went well, and haven't heard a damn thing since.thelincolnlawyer wrote:+1 to all the above. This is by far the hardest wait of the cycle, especially after interviewing over a month ago (which I thought went really well).

Got an email for an interview this morning. Super weird because except for the subject title that said: Vanderbilt Interview, the body simply said: "Next week, lunch is best for me. Let me know if that works for you" . I was like what kind of incomplete email is this LOL but still very excited and nervous.
How did everyone's interview go? Any tips? This is also with a lawyer who graduated from Vandy but works in SoCal now

He's not billing time as he's emailing you. I feel like most lawyers are succinct to the point of seeming short in non-work emails, but it's just the nature of the billing structure. Also, he's not in admissions so I wouldn't expect he feels much, if any, of the need to sell you about VLS quite like admissions does.
As for tips just know why Vandy, why law and have some decent questions about the school or his work. Look into his background. No real telling what he will ask you outside of that, wouldn't worry too much about it.

My interviewer, also an attorney who started biglaw then downsized to start her own firm, was very warm and not cold or succinct at all. She was extremely enthusiastic about selling Vandy to me, almost moreso than she seemed interested in learning about me. I got basically 2 standard "Why law" and then "Why Vandy" otherwise we just had a great conversation about everything. At the end she told me that she really enjoyed talking to me and would put in as good of a word as she could for me. Perhaps my experience was unique? But I way over-prepared.HangingAround wrote:shakha wrote:Got an email for an interview this morning. I was accepted before the New Year after interviewing on 11/24 and, ostensibly, having my interviewer turn in her report not long afterward. My stats generally are a ~~median LSAT and well below 25th GPA. Feel free to PM me for more specifics or more questions, I'm happy to help in whatever limited capacity I am able.

But yea I'm sure it's not a universal norm. Just in my experience. Also, I wouldn't read into anything into the alum's personality/actual interview experience from the email. Just know that it could be more variable than the rah rah admissions office in my opinion.

My interviewer also said that my interview went well. We talked for like an additional hour and a half after the why Vanderbilt/why law questions were over with. I just thought that I would be accepted or waitlisted by now. Those of us that don't have decisions (assuming the apps were submitted a couple of months ago or earlier) must be right there on the fence as to whether or not we are accepted or waitlisted. I couldn't imagine they would hold onto an app for 2 plus months (or in my case 5 months) and then reject the applicant outright. Although, in my opinion a waitlist is just as bad as a rejection.BirdLawExpert wrote:Interviewed on campus in the beginning of November, thought it went well, was told by my interviewer it went well, and haven't heard a damn thing since.thelincolnlawyer wrote:+1 to all the above. PSA: if you want to know an applicant's stats, consider searching their extremely brief posting history.

Well it's like 60 and there isn't a cloud in the sky here, so we've got some to spare.getelodofthis wrote:i'm going to need all the warm thoughts... the snow/icepocalypse and anxiety is freezing up my soulBirdLawExpert wrote:Same exact situation. Then again I soloed a bunch of national parks last year and sub-zero temps/blizzards followed me around the southwest for a month, so maybe I'm not the harbinger of heat that I think I am.
