Anyone else get really lowballed? I'm in at a few t14s with great stats and only got 30k a year. USC was the only non t14 I was considering, but I honestly I think I might get more money at much better schools.

Actually disappointed with my offer.. I seem to be the only one! 20K a year with 166, 3.65. 105K from emory so I guess that takes USC + LA rent off the table

I don't know, sounds like it's time to start negotiating, to me. Flex those future lawyer muscles a bit and see what shakes out.bmurp wrote:Actually disappointed with my offer.. I seem to be the only one! 20K a year with 166, 3.65. 105K from emory so I guess that takes USC + LA rent off the table

What's this?! Sounds very interesting. Obviously, I didn't get invited. Seems they want to buy me, but don't want to spend time with me.larsy91 wrote:Anyone receive information about an inaugural honors program in their scholarship letter?

Are they sending decisions through email, snail mail, or a mix of both?

Uh don't settle for that? I bet they're low balling everyone considering they're assuming everyone will negotiate. It's like you're buying a car, of course your first offer is going to be unreasonably low. Hopefully the guy you're buying it from doesn't realize the value and you get it for a steal. They've only given you their starting offer which is the minimum you'll get, not the maximum.bmurp wrote:Actually disappointed with my offer.. That is surprising/confusing. I got a slightly lower offer than you and got that invite.fliptrip wrote:What's this?! Sounds very interesting. Obviously, I didn't get invited. +1000. From their perspective, all of us have a price, right, because a scholarship in this context is really just a discount. They like you and want you, but would like to pay as little as possible for you. So, why not see if you don't know your worth and are willing to be bought for less than you're worth?ProductofUnreality wrote:Uh don't settle for that? I've read many times that it is hard for us prospective law students to realize how much of the leverage shifts to us once we are admitted. These folks' jobs depend on keeping their medians, etc. so they need us. We should definitely not be afraid to be bold!

Does USC help with travel reimbursement for admitted students? Sorry if this has been asked, I can't find it.

Thanks, how long after your decision finalized did you wait for the email? My decision went final yesterday morning.beckett wrote:I initially received my admission via email and then received it via snail mail a couple days later.lesalexander wrote:Are they sending decisions through email, snail mail, or a mix of both?

I wasn't checking super religiously, but mine probably came within a couple of hours. I know a couple weeks ago it took someone around 24 hours to get their email after going decision finalized.lesalexander wrote:Thanks, how long after your decision finalized did you wait for the email? Exactly. Once you're admitted you have all the leverage and it's important to view it that way or you might be inclined to settle for less than you're worth. They are buying you, you're not buying them, that's why they make the first offer.fliptrip wrote:+1000. My decision went final last night, but I'm Canadian and I never got an email. The original email I got said decisions would be mailed only...but sounds like those who got emails got the same email.
Should I expect a reject? I haven't heard anybody whose gotten rejected recently that's in the same boat as me! Then again, maybe I'm the first...

Never received anything like that, but I live in California. Might have to do with you being abroad?cndngrl4321 wrote:Any chance you got the email that said decisions would be mailed only?beckett wrote:I initially received my admission via email and then received it via snail mail a couple days later.lesalexander wrote:Are they sending decisions through email, snail mail, or a mix of both?

In the email that said my application was complete, they specifically said that decisions would be rendered through snail mail only and not through email or by phone.beckett wrote:Never received anything like that, but I live in California. But after reading through this thread, it's become clear to me that many were notified via email, and within hours of the decision being finalized.

$400 out of state. $150 in state (have to be far enough away). These apply to any admit tour days and the USC law day.skyhigh4760 wrote:Anyone?skyhigh4760 wrote:Does USC help with travel reimbursement for admitted students? Sorry if this has been asked, I can't find it.
