Re: Berkeley Law School c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Got a call from the admission office today. Missed the call, but they left a minute voicemail that made my heart drop when they mentioned "Berkeley." They immediately said "good news," and I knew I had been granted admission. Still waiting for a few other law schools, but this is extremely exciting, as I am guaranteed a Top 10 law school (positive spin, right?)!!!
Information:
Submitted my application 12/25/14, got my LSAT scores on the 1st, received status checker email on 1/2/15, and went under review 1/12/15. Got the decision via phone/voicemail today on 1/22/15.

Admitted via email just now!!! (9:16 AM PST)
I'm so excited. I screamed when I saw the email at work.
Submitted 11/1. Application didn't go complete until 1/5 (I think) because of a mix-up with LORs. Went UR 1/5. Any other information, just let me know!

I wonder how they decide who to email and who to call.
Feel like I might be toast if I didn't get an email with the others this morning, unless I'm on a call-list. Does anyone have any speculations for how that works?

No changes for me before going to admitted. Last time I checked was either this morning or yesterday (they all blur together, haha).hearsay77 wrote:Congrats to the admits! Did you have any changes on your status checker between UR and admitted?

Never had any changes, went under review 1/5 and it stayed that way till this morning. Lack of movement isn't as bad as we think!hearsay77 wrote:Congrats to the admits! Did you have any changes on your status checker between UR and admitted?

How many single moms go to law school? All law schools try to admit a well-rounded class. Since a bunch of people going to law school are straight from undergrad (30-40% usually) you've got unique experiences to bring to the table. Plus it's extremely admirable to be pursuing something as difficult as this while also juggling the huge responsibility of raising a child. Schools like Berkeley are holistic and they take this into account. Don't sell yourself short, you sound amazing.miamiri wrote:I think my resume is not strong. I am a very non traditional applicant. No published articles or books, no graduate degree, no work experience related to law. Mini career in advertising as single mom....I think it's impressive but not compared to other applicants so I found out. Good luck to everyone!
Did you write about it in your PS? I hope so...
