Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
For others freaking out about radio silence from UVA, hopefully I can assuage your worries a little bit. I applied/went complete in late october and just got an interview request (over a month between them). I was freaking out cause it seemed like everyone who got an interview request got one almost immediately after applying, but I guess over a month is possible too. My numbers are in my profile and I did write a why X

Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Based on skimming through this thread, that appears correct. I went back and found the UVA c/o 2017 applicants thread, based on applicant experiences in the prior year, it seems like UVA sends out scholarship info for just about everyone else within the first couple of days of March. I think I actually might be more anxious waiting for scholarship/financial aid info to come out than I was with waiting for the admissions decision. Once you're admitted to your dream school it's agonizing to think that you might not be able to attend because it costs too much...hillz wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem like any scholarship info has gone out except for Dillards.hypebeast wrote:Hey guys, was just admitted! Super excited as UVA was my top choice. Does anyone know when we can expect scholarship info to come out? Does that usually come much later for UVA admitted students? Looking through this thread, the people who were admitted with full scholarships were told at the time of their acceptance notice, but what about for everyone else?

I've accepted that I'll get a waitlist some time later this month or early next, and I'll have to send them some kind of, "Why I want to love you..." letter.

I have no idea what I'd put in a LOCI that wasn't already in my Why UVA. I've never been out there and with nothing to go on but the info on the website and 0 ties to the area I don't feel good about my chances.jawsjawsjaws wrote:I've already started writing my LOCI hahahaNoLieAbility wrote:

Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Hi guys. I got a quick question.
I am in the middle of filling out the application. One of the questions is asking me to list
extracurricular, extra professional, or community activities.
If an activity I think I did for public interest violated copyright, do you think I should leave it out?
I am asking this because I found I didn't do much other than work.

You think you did it for public interest? Or you think it violated copyright? Which one of those things do you know for a fact?fairhope71 wrote: If an activity I think I did for public interest violated copyright, do you think I should leave it out?

I'm trying to gauge my chances for a Dillard. I have the numbers and I believe softs (at least according to what I've seen of past/current recipients), but I've heard nothing since my acceptance (yesterday). I also was interviewed by Grace Cleveland, while it seems that most Dillard recipients were interviewed by Black. Am I doomed?

I'm 90% sure your interviewer is based on your last name, not on anything substantive (if yours starts with A-L, that helps confirm).DetroitRed wrote:I'm trying to gauge my chances for a Dillard. That said, aside from rare exceptions early in the cycle, it sounds like they're giving Dillards at the time of acceptance. Did you talk to Dean Faulk yesterday, or just email?

hmmm... my last name is included in A-L and I had Cleveland. Haha, I feel like an idiot now for speculating previously about interviewer assignment. The last name theory seems very likely based on my own experience and a couple other people I know.smile0751 wrote:hmmm... my last name is included in A-L and I had Cleveland. My Dillard call came a week after I got in.
Timeline went like
10/1 Submit
10/2 Interview Request
10/9, accepted at the end
10/15 Dillard

I think people have mostly been accepted anywhere from a day to a week later. Not sure it really indicates anything, maybe just how busy they are.Birds15 wrote:had an interview yesterday. anyone been accepted after the call rather than on it? any insight into how much longer until a response?

I assume they are getting increasingly busy from October to January so it's only reasonable if it takes a little longer now than it did 6 weeks ago. (Still, would be nice if they let me in soon!)hillz wrote:I think people have mostly been accepted anywhere from a day to a week later. I have a phone interview with Josh Black on Tuesday. Any tips from those who have interviewed with him? Also, it seems like most people who have done phone interviews found out pretty quickly what their admissions decision is, a lot even during the phone call. Is that the case?

when the people who got accepted got accepted.. did UVA send you the formal acceptance letter right away? ... did it by chance have scholarship information??

They mailed an acceptance letter and nice packet of info the week that they called. It is my understanding that no scholarship info is sent in packets this early unless you received a Dillard.bluesandgreens wrote:when the people who got accepted got accepted.. did UVA send you the formal acceptance letter right away? ... did it by chance have scholarship information??

if you hide things in the spreadsheets, it doesn't just hide them for you, it hides them for everybody, and then it messes up the data. PLEASE DON'T HIDE COLUMNS IN THE SPREADSHEETS
(don't mind me just spamming this everywhere bc it's messing up literally every single spreadsheet right now)

Does anyone else using a Mac and Safari have issues (read: can't access) the status checker? It only happens to me for Vandy and UVA, all other schools work. Anyone have a fix for this other than DL'ing another browser?
