Not the worst administrative error by an admissions office in a school of higher learning this week.ellewoods817 wrote:Dean Ingram just sent out an e-mail saying that the saturday dings were an administrative error and asked for permission to do an "informal request for reconsideration"

For those with scholly info already, how long did you wait between acceptance and $$ email?
And, did you have to do anything or does it just come automatically?

I'm really glad I came to Texas. Great school.whosinthehousejc wrote:So... one semester down. How do you like the school so far? Professors? Fellow students? Professors - absolutely amazing. I know some people who think otherwise, but all of my first semester professors were really great. Despite the general hovemind, I actually really enjoyed going to class.
Fellow students - generally really good. There's some gunners and sour grapes that I don't like, but it is much more the exception rather than the rule.
Finals - read getting to maybe, outlining my own stuff, and practice tests. I have no idea how it worked for me yet, but I felt really well prepared and as if the exams were very fair in testing what I knew and my ability to apply the law.
Wrong - no idea. I may have worked a bit harder than I needed in himdsight, but I don't really consider that a terrible thing.

Just called the UT admissions office because I applied ED in October and still had not heard anything. The woman I spoke with said they made the decision to hold me over to RD in November but "forgot" to inform me. She actually used the word "forgot"...

Administrative mistakes...forgetting to inform applicants. Sounds like everyone should withdraw (so I can have your spotkfree wrote:Just called the UT admissions office because I applied ED in October and still had not heard anything. The school, professors, and fellow students are overall great. I disagree with Attax that we were tested based on what we covered in class, but it's hard to complain because everyone faced the same curveballs.
I strongly recommend actively reading Getting to Maybe at least once before school starts. It seemed extraordinarily helpful. Also, fix up your resume (and write cover letters while you're at it) during 0L.

How are people hearing about their acceptances, via email? Anyone want to share what the subject line was? I'm becoming neurotic about this now.

Re: University of Texas C/O 18 Applicants
I wouldn't expect to hear anything until next year. I was on campus all day yesterday and today finishing up and yesterday was a ghost town after noon (when the faculty and staff had their party). Today there was basically no one there. Student affairs office, at least, is closed until the 5th. I can't speak for admissions though.
Maybe something on the 29th or 30th, but don't count on it unless they've already made those decisions and Dean Ingram wants to take advantage of the quiet office to sit and make phone calls.
