STATUS CHANGE to 12/9 with a short one line message!!! I can't believe I didn't notice this earlier. Anyone else know whether or not this is a good sign. Mine previously went complete on 11/18 after my interview. SO COOL! Also, I just got a survey from NU about their website. Some of the questions were worded as if I had already decided to attend (probably a mistake, but good omen for sure)! Anyone had a similar experience?

I also am thinking way too much into this and wondering if this "website survey" is actually some type or interest gauge. It said "anonymous" but I am sure they can easily track that. Also it asked things like why NU stands out to me, etc.

Someone please tell me I am crazy!

That would be way too insidious. I think the language in the survey was supposed to be general, I didn't take it to be an underlying message.

"What happens on decision days.
From the spike in call volume on decision days- this post is probably a long time coming. Here is a quick explanation on how a bill becomes a law.

I. The systems we use.

For applications, we use two different systems. We use an admissions database (AD), which is tied to our status checker, and we also use a decision letter delivery (DLD) system. The login and passwords are the same.

II. The three step dance

Step One: We usually do decisions in batches. Once we are ready for release, the decisions are loaded into our Admissions Database. The status checker is updated every hour, so those who live and die by the refresh key will know that a decision is forthcoming pretty quickly.

Step Two: The decisions are then transferred to our Decision Letter Delivery system. Depending on the size of the batch, this step can take at least ONE HOUR to clear.

Step Three: E-mail notification that a decision is ready. At this point, a letter should be ready for download through the delivery system.

III. The problems that occur

The most frequently heard problem is that the Decision Letter Delivery system does not recognize a login/password. This is probably because it is uploading the various letters to get ready for download. Once again, it should take at least an hour, you can either try again later, or just wait for the E-mail notification.

I got the website survey email as well, and I withdrew my app last week so it definitely isn't a slick way to gauge your interest. Just a regular old "How'd we do?" survey.

I got into NYU but my wife was accepted to medical school in Chicago. I'm really hoping that NU is as kind to me as New York was but so far, I've had a fairly muted cycle.

It would be nice to go into the holidays knowing where we will be living though!

Good luck to everyone!!! Even in the middle of finals (2 down, 2 left!), this place is still a pretty neat place. I remember being in your spot last year and reading the other thread where people were going crazy about finals, and I always thought "ugh, at least you're there!" And, I kid you not, as I walked through the school to my final this morning, looked out the big glass windows at Lake Michigan, I thought, finals may be rough, but at least I'm here.

hi everyone! checking in... I also have a quick question: i applied earlier this week, and my status checker says my application is incomplete. the only things missing are the optional essays, optional early decision certification (not applying ED), and optional disciplinary explanation. will they figure out i'm just not providing these, or have i done something wrong?? sorry for the paranoia!

Did you sign up for an interview? It will remain incomplete until the interview is conducted... also it's only been a few days, so I wouldn't worry at all just yet
