I submitted the first day apps could be submitted with a 3.98, 171. I go to a top 25 public, decent extra curriculars, law firm internship, on a dance team, etc...and haven't gotten a decision. Any thoughts? I also wrote a diversity statement.

My office doesn't know I'm applying to law school--and their finding out would be a headache. Just wondering whether I should start wandering away from my cube when I get calls from unknown numbers.

You can always let the call go and then call back after work. I know I wouldn't want to get a phone call that gets me extraordinarily excited and happy in an environment where that same news is supposed to be a secret.

Almost every law school that gives sudden acceptance calls will do it during working hours because that is when they are working too. Calling you to tell you you're in is their job, not their after-work hobby.

Well if you work in the east, then you may be out of work when you get the call given the 3 hour time difference.

In my experience, this is inevitable.

Well I guess out of the 300+, 20ish of my friends know, and 5 of those would blab to other coworkers. Managers hardly come around anyway, and there's so many of them they can't keep us straight. And I'm hourly, and as of now, the managers like me. Oh, work...how I dislike you so.

I hope so. I'm well above their accepted LSAT but below that accepted GPA by quite a bit, ouch.

I've noticed it seems like schools are accepting high GPAs rather than high LSATs right away. And by schools I mean H and here. Wonder if they accept the high LSAT applicants later or what.

I'm so confused, I though high GPAs were a dime a dozen but that there was a small, finite number of high LSATs, and that therefore those would be in higher demand. Not good for me.

If that was true, I would feel more comfortable with my quasi reverse-splitter #'s. However, I'm not sure how far you can draw out that conclusion (A PT decision at Duke makes me think LSAT is still very much the primary directive).

Based on what we have seen so far this year and last year's thread/LSN they don't actually ever do this, at least not to the extent you would think based on their medians. Not really sure what the deal is, maybe there are a lot of URMs/non-traditionals with lowish numbers who don't use LSN and bring down their medians? I don't know. But if you look at their medians and think that Berkeley is just another Cornell you are sorely mistaken. It is a very tough nut to crack.

Berkeley actually doesn't differ a whole lot from Cornell when it comes to median LSAT scores. (Both were 167 for the class of 2015.) Because this is the median and not the mean, it means that there are just as many people at or below 167 as there are at or above it; hence, we've seen almost nothing but above-167's getting accepted, so it is only natural that they will begin accepting the below-167's now. (And that is assuming that they will even be able to keep the "167" median with the drop in applicants...)

Yeah but if everyone below 167 is URM or has great softs that doesn't do a whole lot for the majority of applicants, especially the K-JD "OMGZ I been under review for 2 weeks WHERE BE MY ACceptaNce!!!" crowd. 167/3.75 ain't gonna cut it at Cal if that's all you've got. Most of the time it will cut it at Cornell. That was my whole point.

Case in point: according to mylsn.info I have a 93% chance at Cornell but only a 27% chance at Berkeley. I am at or above medians at both schools.
