Oh darn. Good thing he didn't take my spot that's clearly being reserved for me.

Compare ASU to Wake Forest law. Wake Forest has the Dean of Admissions post regularly on TLS. He makes everything as transparent as possible. We even know how many people are on the waitlist, and everyone's chances of getting scholarships, and what days acceptances are going out, and just about everything you can imagine.
A lot of people wonder how ASU jumped in the rankings so quick, then with their lack of transparency.
If I put two and two together, ASU comes off as hiding something.

Do we think ASU is lieing about that?

They aren't lying.. but the stats could be misleading if you're an uninformed student.favrefire4 wrote:Do we think ASU is lieing about that?
Their recent jump had a lot to do with their better job placement. Well, their better placement came from the school itself granting work fellowships to grads so they were employed --- > more students employed -----> higher rankings.
The fellowships don't last forever and some people are butthurt about that.
EDIT: Wake Forest is quite an exception to law school transparency. Unusual compared to most schools, but certainly more 'normal' than how ASU handles things.

It would be nice if ASU at least had a status checker.

I can't tell you how many times I thought the same thing last cycle. It's really odd that they don't.favrefire4 wrote:It would be nice if ASU at least had a status checker.

I wonder if anyone has suggested it to them. Perhaps I should have included it in my email to Dean Soto. lol.

Hello all, I have been watching this thread for a while and like most of you ASU is my top choice but I have not received a decision yet. Does anyone know if there is a pattern to when they send out the decisions? I know they say "on-going basis", but I feel that could mean anywhere from weekly to twice a month, etc. I saw a wave of decisions went out earlier this week and am hoping it is at least a weekly occurrence. Any ideas? I was held over from early decision and have been eagerly waiting ever since.

I'm under the impression that there will be another wave next week. Seat deposit for those who have been admitted (EAers) is the 15th.. so after that they'll have a much clearer picture of where they stand.

I agree with Gaud said. I've never seen much of a pattern. My guess is that now they're waiting on first seat deposits. I wonder if we on here have any indication what kind of yield they're going to get from those? With applications being so significantly down, I'd have to think people are putting ASU on the back-burner for even better schools?

Withdrew today. Honestly it came down to wanting to get out of Arizona. I need a change of scenery, and freezing cold Illinois sounds just right. Best of luck to you all!

Eh, I dunno. I'm sure it hurts with their higher-stat applicants, but I can't imagine it hurting them anymore than any other cycle. I'm under the impression that many, if not most, of ASU applicants are people with a strong desire to stay in AZ and I don't know if rankings/less applicants will change it much. Who knows, though?favrefire4 wrote:I agree with Gaud said. I've never seen much of a pattern. My guess is that now they're waiting on first seat deposits. Was it through email? Did they mention a timeframe regarding decisions for those on the waitlist?favrefire4 wrote:Wait listed...

Just got the standard email. I wonder if my email to Dean Soto had anything to do with it or not since Kathy said a decision hadn't been made yesterday. Anyone have any experience or knowledge about ASU and the wait list?

I wouldn't think that a transition from "no decision yet" to waitlist status less than 24 hours after sending the Dean an email to be of pure coincidence

You're probably right. The real question is whether or not the email pushed me to wait list status or if it hurt me. Do we have any idea about ASU and the wait list? Specifically, how many people they place on it and how many they pull from it?

Damnit, sorry Farvefire4. : ( I was really pulling for you!
Just got back from the reception, it was really awesome. I asked about decisions left to be made (for ya'll
) and one of the admissions officers said there are probably around 1000 files left to go through. She mentioned they have an increased amount of applicants this cycle.

Pretty huge reverse splitter: 155/3.8. Thanks for asking Gaud. That doesn't sound like it bodes very well for me and my chances to get off the wait list. I'm not sure what the best move now is. I will send my final semester transcripts when I have them, but beyond that, not sure what else to do. Maybe a month from now I will send another LOCI to let them know it still is where I want to be. I'm bummed, but I'm still in the game.FinallyGoing wrote:Stats?favrefire4 wrote:You're probably right. The real question is whether or not the email pushed me to wait list status or if it hurt me. I know the wait list is not the preferred place to be, but at least you know they are interested in you . . . don't lose hope! I think you are on the right track, waiting a bit and submitting another LOCI is the way I would go if in your shoes. I'm not too excited about my chances any longer, especially considering the fact that they appear to have an overwhelming amount of apps to review still. I really hope the next few days bring good news.favrefire4 wrote:Pretty huge reverse splitter: 155/3.8. Thanks for asking Gaud. That's not good news for me. Although, something doesn't seem to add up to me. Gaud said they have over 1,000 files left to review, but in the wait list email, it said they received about 2,000 applications this year. While possible, it seems unlikely to me that they've only gotten to half at this point...

It could be less than 1000. I'm just going off of how it sounded. Lol. I'll try and get better specifics, if possible, today.favrefire4 wrote:That's not good news for me.
