Since it's already getting out there, is anyone willing to share a spreadsheet that ONLY includes GPA, LSAT, Index, URM Status, and Scholarship Info?

I don't see how that would disrespect anyone's privacy moreso than has already been done, and I think there is something to be gained/learned from a careful analysis of the aforementioned data points.

Sorry that you all have to go through this, by the way.

I agree about the URM part - I think that is the *only* information that could prove useful as no one really knows the boost they get. Everything else is pretty straightforward. High LSATS and GPA above Baylor median = high scholarship offer

Although, I have to say, it won't be me to post it! I'll fully admit that I don't have the balls too but more importantly the time to edit all of that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it an excel doc? Go to the top of the row that has all of the students names, delete the row. Go to the top of the rows that have all of the personal information, delete those rows. You don't have a minute and a half to spare? This info could be hugely beneficial to law students everywhere.

Somebody send me the doc, and I'll do a serious data analysis (graphs, comparisons, etc.) I'll redact all of the personal info except undergraduate institution, as this info is already readily available on ATL. Offer is on the table...PM me

I don't know if the withdrawn part is true. One of my friends who withdrew is on there. I haven't sent anything in and I'm on there. I don't know what the criteria was for being on this wonderful, informative, privacy-breaching spreadsheet but I'd be thankful if I were you!!!

Thats why you're on there. I haven't sent anything in either and I'm on there, we haven't sent deposits or withdrew. The email was about extending the deposit deadline, so it only applied to those who haven't put one down yet. I don't know about your friend.

I think it you withdrew long enough ago, then you're not on it. If you recently withdrew, you may still be on it.

I love how Frank makes it seem like it wasn't that big of a deal because our SSNs were not revealed. I'm sorry, Frank, but it IS a big deal. How about an honest, sincere apology? Not "we apologize, BUT...."

I think termination would be a bit much. There certainly wasn't any intent, and every exchange I've had with them has been a positive one. I'm mildly annoyed, but I certainly don't see a need to pull the ripcord any time soon.

As soon as I send in my deposit to a school, I will be filing a complaint. I will also be asking Baylor what they plan on doing to monitor the release of the information to prevent it from further spreading. Just saying they fixed their internal process to not attach personal, protected emails is entirely insufficient.

And btw, I would never advocate firing someone for one mistake.

Well I kind of tried to use the spreadsheet as scholarship negotiating tool, it failed haha. Still worth it emailing the Dean of the law school asking why 15 individuals with lesser #'s were awarded substantial scholarship amounts while I was awarded nothing. I wasn't thinking of pursuing any legal action until I saw the Baylor quote about settling suits if they come up so I am going to ask a family friend to look into it when he gets some time. In the mean time I guess I am going to let my Baylor offer lapse. I can't possibly see myself enrolling at sticker, and after my little email attempt I am sure they would make my life an even bigger living hell than it already would be with all the crazy competitive people. At least Suzey Daniels didn't get fired she seems like a very nice person from my few email interactions with her.

After looking through some information online, I don't think there is anything that can be done legally to remedy the situation. It would be one thing if our SSNs or our dates of birth were in the information: then, a reasonable remedy would be some sort of monetary award for credit checking. I suppose in the case of identity theft, a person could sue to cover losses.

A huge amount of our personal information is now in the public domain, but the more I think about it, what kind of remedy would be appropriate for the leak of this information? Any one of us would have a very difficult time proving that there was any kind of harm inflicted upon us by the release of this information. It is very, very inconvenient and unprofessional on the part of the school, but unless it negatively affects any of us in a way that can be proven, there is no real case to be made or remedy that would be appropriate even if a case were brought forward.

The only thing I have come across that seems worthwhile is filing a FERPA complaint, and even then, the only recourse is a slap on the wrist and assurance from Baylor that it will not happen again. See: http://www2.ed.gov/policy/gen/guid/fpco ... dents.html

If a determination is made that a school violated FERPA, the school and the complainant are so advised, and the school is informed of the steps it must take to come into compliance with the law. The investigation is closed when voluntary compliance is achieved.

It is a pretty awful situation to be put into (especially for those of us who had no intention whatsoever of attending Baylor), but I think the best thing any of us can do is make a FERPA complaint and move on. The more people talk about it, the more chance there is of the information spreading, and that is bad for everybody involved.
