I don't know what you did to piss them off. You need to find it and fix it.cardinals1989 wrote:FTFMr6_philly wrote:I think Duke and UVa are both trying very hard to keep the 170 median. They seem to be giving away good money for everyone except cardinals1989 that hits both medians.
It might pay off to have a 170 much more than last cycle.

It's most funny because I got into Columbia, NYU, etc. with the same application materials. Major LOL.r6_philly wrote:I don't know what you did to piss them off. Well I just briefly looked at Illinois for the 25th of Feb. Flying into Bloomington IL is WAY cheaper than flying into Urbana, but it is about 45 minutes away.r6_philly wrote:Make friend quick! Which ASWs are you having issues with?
Just in general though: If I don't have a car to rent, getting from an airport to campus/hotel without a car is going to be a serious pain in the ass.
Perhaps TLS buddies could help me out for my ASWs?!

Well if we are going to any of the same ones, I will help you out.pereira6 wrote: Perhaps TLS buddies could help me out for my ASWs?!
Getting cheaper fare may not be worth the extra cost/hassle of getting to the school. You could probably email the school to ask for best way to get their via public transit.

It's never a surprise when Philly comes through with a clutch move.r6_philly wrote:Well if we are going to any of the same ones, I will help you out.pereira6 wrote: Perhaps TLS buddies could help me out for my ASWs?!

I reasoned the same thing...it was like 275$ more expensive but it may be worth it.
I definitely plan on e-mailing schools the best way of accessing their school. Perhaps they would actually try and help me out with a ride via a current student or something.
Edit: As of now, I'm planning on Penn for the ASW, and Texas for the 1st!

I will help you if you have difficulty getting to Penn. Email me if you have any questions. I may actually be going to the Texas one as well, but sure yet. Check with me when closer.pereira6 wrote:

As a 19 year old I feel your rental car struggle. I was able to chip in and get a ride with another applicant to the Alabama ASW. Your best bet is to post in the respective thread for the each school you need a life to.
Also, out at Michigan via snail mail today, not a surprise. Status checker never went past complete, though.

Alabama gave me an additional 12k. I guess that's cool. I wish Virginia would do the same. Except like triple that amount.

Did you have to ask for it? Who did you ask? All I got was an email from a professor in a subject I'm interested in. Oh, and said professor also has a nephew at my UG.rli66 wrote:Alabama gave me an additional 12k. I guess that's cool. I wish Virginia would do the same. Except like triple that amount.

Well, WashU just gave me a $135k scholarship. Although I know about its ranking and placement vs. the T14, it is nice to get money somewhere.

Yeah I e-mailed them a letter a few days ago. I had spoken to Page about it at our ASW and she told me to just send her a letter and she'd forward it to the scholarship committee. They just sent me a response back today. I wasn't expecting a response this fast.super6 wrote:Did you have to ask for it? Who did you ask? Yeah, WashU has no qualms about being a rankings climber. It will spend what it needs to to move up. And that of course benefits all of us.r6_philly wrote:Nice! Just got the same $135K scholarship from WUSTL. Definitely a nice offer! Hopefully that's a good sign for decent money from the T14cardinals1989 wrote:Yeah, WashU has no qualms about being a rankings climber. It will spend what it needs to to move up. I realize your comment is partially in jest, but their application closes March 1. They have ASWs on Feb 25 and Mar 25.r6_philly wrote:Is it too late to apply? When is the ASW?

Is there a stipend for travel? One of my LOR writer went to WU, speaks highly of it.cardinals1989 wrote:I realize your comment is partially in jest, but their application closes March 1. They have ASWs on Feb 25 and Mar 25.r6_philly wrote:Is it too late to apply? When is the ASW?

any thoughts from people who are smarter than me about how the low amount of test taker in december should be effecting our cycle? Are there even enough 170+ applicants this year to fill all the seats in the t14?

If you are more than 100 miles from St. Louis, it is a $200 stipend. This is conditional though (ie, not every student gets it), but with your numbers I am sure you would get it.r6_philly wrote:Is there a stipend for travel?
