All right, just typed up my LOCI and am going to print it out and mail it priority or express or whichever is best at the post office. I wasn't planning to send them a LOCI the day after my hold, but today I really wanted to write it.

FYI you can also email it to them as long as it's in the body of the email.CoaltoNewCastle wrote:All right, just typed up my LOCI and am going to print it out and mail it priority or express or whichever is best at the post office. There haven't been many on here and its varied between them so I don't think there is a usual turn around. I don't know if anyone who was held has been dinged yet.Illijah wrote:o okay....what is the usual turnaround been for those people?Dignan wrote:Yes, several.Illijah wrote:Has anyone previously held received a decision yet?

Re: Harvard 2010!
Too late, I sent them a letter by priority mail today. It felt good too. I feel that JR may have gotten the impression from my application that I don't actually want to be a lawyer. However, I do want to be a lawyer and I don't want him to think I'm going to law school for the wrong reasons.Hattori Hanzo wrote:FYI you can also email it to them as long as it's in the body of the email.CoaltoNewCastle wrote:All right, just typed up my LOCI and am going to print it out and mail it priority or express or whichever is best at the post office. Re: Harvard 2010!
so last year around 19.2% of lsn profiles were admitted outright (that is to say excluding the 10 or so WL/Admits).
This year, out of 703 listed profiles there are 126 admits. so thats 18.2%
Assuming that the 156 hidden profiles have basically the same admitted percentage there should be another 28 hidden admits.
That means there are likely 154 total admits out of 859 total profiles.
Assuming the percentage admitted outright stays the same as last year we should expect 165 total lsn admits. so around 11 more
Of the non-hidden profiles we should expect like 8 more.
Most likely JR still has around 40 or so more outright admits to give out in the next two or three weeks. Then the waitlist emails should start coming.
Basically, its now nearly over and there should only be one or two small batches left.

I don't know if you've all addressed this, but I wanted to know, not for me but a friend, i'm not that deluded, at this point whether candidates not getting interview offers are essentially rejected?

Re: Harvard 2010!
I appreciate your estimate. But what I don't get is - why is there so much holding and deliberation over such a small batch of yet-to-be-admitted applicants? It seems to me like the hold group on here is just as good, largely, as the admit bunch. So why immediately admit a whole slew and then agonize over the small remainder? Just seems strange, unless there's a larger number of people they're going to admit.of Benito Cereno wrote:so last year around 19.2% of lsn profiles were admitted outright (that is to say excluding the 10 or so WL/Admits).

Re: Harvard 2010!
if you look at lsn in previous years you'll see that HLS waitlists a ridiculously large number of applicants. They number of applicants in limbo doesn't really tell us anything about how many spots left. Harvard just likes to hold on to hundreds more applicants than they know they'll admit even if their yield fell drastically.NightHooded wrote:I appreciate your estimate. you have to have a large hold pool and need to deliberate a long time to nitpick at all the ways of increasing diversity of the class.JR wrote:We have the luxury of building not only a talented class, but a diverse one. We want to make sure that not everyone is from the same high school, or wants to work for the same Congressional Committee. And the only way to make that happen is to look at the whole applicant pool before making all of our decisions – thus, the hold category.

Re: Harvard 2010!
for those interested.. the current quartiles of LSN students admitted thus far are:
172/175/176.5 3.86/3.94/3.98
compared to previous years, lsat 75th could be higher, gpa's (esp 25th and 50th) could be lower.
disclaimer: these are numbers for LSN acceptances, not actual acceptances, and not matriculants. other reported class stats are usually for matriculants. 131 acceptances were used, including some who at one point had visible profiles but are now hidden. the comparison referenced was against prior years' stats of eventual LSN outright acceptances. prior years' LSN outright acceptance quartiles have been pretty consistent for the past 4 years, holding near 172/175/177 3.81/3.91/3.96. JR is a new dean.

Re: Harvard 2010!
no general opinion. some do it, some think it's weird. like, would you address in your email that a written letter has also been sent by postal mail? seems like that would throw off the flow of the letter. postal mail really doesn't take very long these days.MTC87 wrote:Illijah wrote:Whats the general opinion on sending both a written and emailed LOCI's simultaneously?
