Sibley, I like you lots... please don't apologize for me.
I know the nabe well, I know the high school kids.
I know the Fordham kids.
I may be defensive... but not about this. Judging people on their style/clothing? That rather speaks for itself.
kthx

But everybody judges based on appearance. Are you going to hire a lawyer who looks like a hobo? In principle it's a bad habit but in reality we're all guilty of it.

edit: And hey - to each their own. I still don't need anyone apologizing for me. Thanks.

Re: Fordham Waiting Room
Meh, I have to admit, I judged the DePaul kids based on their appearance this weekend. I can see where Kim is coming from. You expect law students to look, at least to a certain extent, "put together". This doesn't mean wearing business casual every day or anything like that, but you do expect people to look like professional students (especially if someone is giving a tour or speaking at an ASD). I personally haven't spent a lot of time on the UWS or near Fordham law, though, so I don't know much what Fordham kids look like; would expect undergrads to be a bit sloppy/odd looking. But I am old and generally think that "kids" dress strange these days

I'm going to sleep, hoping that it was just a weird anomaly and that tomorrow brings back all of the sparkles and rainbows.

FWIW,
if you see me on campus in the fall, feel free to judge me however you like. I'll be the one not giving a damn how I'm dressed and soaking up the fun and good company at Fordham Law. You all are welcome to join me.
Now that the big business of wardrobe is out of the way, let's get me off the waitlist and into the admit pile. Thank you and goodnight.

I will now quote a far superior movie to cleanse my brain of that mess:
"Hey Mr. Webb, can I ask you something?"
"Sure thing. Shoot Timmy."
"It's Danny"
"Do you take drugs Danny?"
"Everyday"
"Good. So what's the problem?"
"I gotta go to college."
"Oh Danny, this isn't Russia...Is this Russia? This isn't Russia. Is it?"

Carl Spackler: So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.rockthelaw wrote:Yeah, she owes me bigtime.H. E. Pennypacker wrote:I heard it was AWFUL. The dudity...not exactly sure what you mean, but basically there are scenes that would make Peter North cringe.

Some quotes that tie into our law school quest:
Danny Noonan: I planned to go to law school after I graduated, but it looks like my folks won't have enough money to put me through college.
Judge Smails: Well, the world needs ditch diggers, too.
Lacey Underall: [to Danny] Nice try.
Danny Noonan: I'm going to law school, too.
Chuck Schick: Really. Are you going to Harvard?
Danny Noonan: No, St. Copious of Northern...
Chuck Schick: Where ?
