Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
Maybe it is not entirely appropriate to ask this question here, but here it goes: I wonder how many of your guys would harbor the plan to transfer to Harvard if you come within a whisker of being admitted this cycle. I do have this plan in mind, and I was offered a free ride at a lower-ranked school. I feel reluctant to accept this money even after reading Asha's blog. For some reason, I couldn't wait a year and reapply. Comments?

Do you have reason to think you're within a whisker of being admitted? You don't have to withdraw you HLS app anyway. Why would you have to wait for a year and reapply??pocrisp wrote:Maybe it is not entirely appropriate to ask this question here, but here it goes: I wonder how many of your guys would harbor the plan to transfer to Harvard if you come within a whisker of being admitted this cycle. I know I don't have to withdraw from harvard. What if I get rejected by Harvard and have to go to that school which offered money, then I would feel so guilty to transfer after the first year given that I accept their scholarship....any of you guys have similar concern?hypothalamus wrote:Do you have reason to think you're within a whisker of being admitted? If you get a full ride from a T6 and have the grades to transfer, you shouldn't transfer. HTH.pocrisp wrote:I know I don't have to withdraw from harvard. You gave me a heart attack that the KB2s had started. I'm sure they'll be a few sometime this week right... Maybe they'll want to give us something to talk about at Easter dinner.MichelFoucault wrote:::crickets::

Over/under on more applicants receiving KB1s this week? Do we think Harvard is done interviewing initial candidates?
Obviously, this doesn't include the impending KB2 wave, jetissent

What I've learned by procrastinating during finals:amc987 wrote:Over/under on more applicants receiving KB1s this week? Do we think Harvard is done interviewing initial candidates?

At this point it's unlikely that you will still have an interview although it's very possible, when's your complete?

I am on hold. My complete date was in early Nov. So I'm with you: I'm guessing the odds aren't in my favor.ashika2212 wrote:At this point it's unlikely that you will still have an interview although it's very possible, when's your complete?

I mean I was on hold and my interview was just Friday. I don't know why people would assume that was the last day. It's only been 1 full business day since the last one we know occurred. I say keep hoping.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
There have been interviews as late as july leading to wait list acceptances all the way to September. It's not over until you're dinged, since this is a weird cycle yield may be lower from frustrated cross admits who withdraw to avoid being held, Harvard is already known for decent wait list movementamc987 wrote:I am on hold. I think you'll get a clearer picture after Yale and Stanford are officially done and people start decided what school they want to attend. Until then just be thankful for everyday you're not dinged!
@jetissent congrats! No one is saying give up hope :p

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
So I just emailed NYU to check with them Re: Intent to enroll for scholarships by April 6 with other schools I haven't heard from. Their vague response was "You are expected to withdraw from other schools." You think it's worth it to clarify with them? Or just take Dean Asha's word for it and figure it out afterwards if I'm lucky enough to get in to H?

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
Take Asha's advice. You have to think like a lawyer. There is a reason why they said "you are exprected" and not "you are required". Look at the language of the binding ED programs. These scholarships are not binding agreements (feel free to correct me if I am wrong). Accept the scholarship, and if H accepts you off the WL and you want to jump ship, do it. Jeezus this isn't complicated.yepyepyep wrote:So I just emailed NYU to check with them Re: Intent to enroll for scholarships by April 6 with other schools I haven't heard from. I would take Dean Asha's word for it and cross that bridge when you come to it.yepyepyep wrote:So I just emailed NYU to check with them Re: Intent to enroll for scholarships by April 6 with other schools I haven't heard from.
